Apologies for the noob question, is this an accident or design failure?

Man, the Hector / Hector Plus sure have presence! When I opened the window, at first glance, I thought it's something German. The size gives it street cred and all that shiny black paint...wow!

Check if there are any ota updates available.
Have you changed the settings in the weather app to not notify? Try that too.

The new frameless grill and alloy wheels have changed things for the better especially the plus model, cleaner design and has very good street presence. It has surely taken sales from Innova as I have seen quite a few chauffeur driven into prominent hotels.

Re: MG Hector : Official Review

No OTA Updates as of now. I checked, the latest version is installed.
I will do that, trying to change the setting in weather app for the same.

Re: MG Hector : Official Review

I just test drove a Hector Plus (Hybrid Sharp) recently. The car appeared jerky while operating the clutch but that could just be me, getting used to a new setup.

What was more surprising was that the ride appeared a little harsh. We have long been hearing how the Hectors have a soft suspension and low-speed ride quality is great. However, my friend who owns a Fiat Linea and was a passenger during the TD felt the same. In his view, his old Linea handles the bumps better, and eventually, we all agreed.

Any pointers from the experienced folks/Hector owners here?

Note: The vehicle was easy to steer and taking u-turns was easier than expected. Setting the cruise control threw up some issues, the (substitute) DSA couldnt figure out why the speed was dropping all the way down. But otherwise, the highway drive was good- quiet and stable.

A relative is getting 8 KMPL with careful driving in city. But it is hurting the pocket so much, as their other car is an Innova. A usual 4500 Rs trip in Innova is now costing 14k in Hector for same destination.

Hector Petrol is a big no if mileage is your concern.. Go only with Diesel Hector.

The math is not making real world sense.
If a 4.5k rupee trip has turned into 14k rupee trip, that means the FE of the diesel innova is 14/4.5=3.11 times the FE of the petrol hector.
And I can bet that if the hector is 8kmpl, the innova diesel simply can't return 24+ kmpl. It simply can't.

The MG's mileage is 8 kmpl when driven gently, add load and it falls easily to 5 kmpl, a diesel innova can easily get 15kmpl with passengers, luggage and AC. Diesel demonization meets real world costs, petrol loses every time.

MG's mileage is for the city while using petrol CVT while Innova diesel's mileage appears to be for the highway.

Re: MG Hector : Official Review

Even in the worst of city driving conditions my brand new 4 month old CVT gives me 10kmpl in the city. Car has done 2300kms. A few trips to Pondicherry from Chennai has given me 12-14 kmpl. I don’t bother too much about fuel economy and hence I don’t drive around thinking how light my foot should be when I sit in the car. However my average highways speeds are 80-90 kmph. Hope this helps.
