Yes, I would recommend SA Salman Kashmiri. He explained every aspect of the service in great detail.

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

I just booked the Slavia 1.0L AT in Crystal Blue yesterday. I went and drove the Slavia 1.0L MT and Kushaq 1.5L MT to experience the 1.5L engine. Drove in some heavy traffic in HSR and that convinced me to get the AT. Also, this is my very first car, I had Verna Turbo MT as backup but Slavia’s higher GC and superior exterior build quality did the trick.

The prime reason behind getting Slavia was that Skoda was running a “sale” yesterday and I got a discount of 1.55L on the ex-showroom price, with a 3-year SMP and 5th year Extended Warranty thrown in for gratis. Mulled it over an hour and finally booked it.

I even got the VIN number and it's a March 2024 manufactured car. Skoda was probably trying to clear some old stocks. Final ex-showroom price was ₹15,54,000, heck with the discounts running I would have got the 1.5L DSG but that was out of stock very soon and it wasn’t available in the top trim.

Why is Skoda running such huge discounts? What is this doing to their margins?

I have been tagging with a friend who is interested to purchase a Slavia 1.0 AT Prestige. Our choice of colour was not available on the 24th August sale unfortunately. Cars in stock with the dealer are available immediately with a 80k discount (Corporate + Loyalty) on a ~19L on road price (Gurgaon) with free essentials kit and service package included. I do vividly recall in early 2023 the equivalent Style variant was 18L on-road. So, may simply be a case of inflating price and discounting.

I understand the cars booked online with the 1.55L discount are allocated at the plant and are dispatched to the selected dealers for facilitating delivery. I got to hear from them that Skoda supports dealers with some margins separately for facilitating sale of these vehicles booked online. Might be true as the dealer seemed equally keen to facilitate a car booked online, in fact even pushing us to book and pick a grey online over a grey they had in stock!

Lot of unsold stocks across brands plus Slavia/Kushaq facelift is less than a year away.

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

I test drove the 1.0MT and must say it did feel very sorted. Have not driven the AT yet, but am currently constrained by my company lease restrictions so will probably be restricted to the manual gearbox.

There are currently discounts including the 80,000 benefit mentioned earlier in the thread, but the sales adviser also mentioned that Skoda has informed them that a sunroof will be added to the Signature trim from September. This would be on both the Slavia and Kushaq. Could partly explain the need to get some inventory sold. Exact dates when the sunroof addition would be announced were not shared, but they had a sales meet in anticipation of a September launch.

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

I booked the Slavia 1.0L AT Prestige recently. I paid a booking amount of ₹20,000. I had some questions about the delivery timeline for the car. This is my very first car so these would be noob questions. I live in Bengaluru for reference.

1. I should pay for the car only after PDI correct ? I am using Zekardo for the PDI. I have also opted for a company car lease.
2. The SA was saying that registration takes 2-days. I am assuming that registration will happen only after I pay the on-road price of the car ? Unfortunately, the dealership is a little far from my place so should I take the car out with the temporary registration and then take it back again to the dealership so that they can fix the HSRP ?
3. After I pay for the car post-PDI, should I keep the car with the dealership while registration formalities (incl HSRP) are done, and then collect the car from the dealership after registration is done (incl HSRP) ?
4. Will the dealership hand me the car post the payment of the on-road price or post the regsitration formalities are done ? I am worried about keeping the car with the dealership once I pay for it. What if they switch the cars or the car gets damaged ?
5. The SA is saying that SMP and Extended Warranty are activated within 2 months post delivery of the car ? I got 3-year SMP and 5-year extended warranty for the car. Is this true ?

I am a little confused what happens between the time I pay for the car post a successful PDI and the registration formalities.

Thanks.

Congratulations on your booking, simple answer to your questions:
  • Do PDI only then release the balance payment
  • Dealer will send the car for registration only after getting the complete payment and takes about 2 days to complete the RTO formalities
  • If HRSP plates are not ready then go ahead with the temp number as the car would've been registered and you will be able to download digital RC from Vaahan

So I should take the car home with me once the payment is done (assuming successful PDI) and not keep the car with the dealer for registration formalities like HSRP ?

No you cannot take the car home without the registration done by the dealer and road tax paid in full . This process is done by the dealer, and the car will be in the dealership until the registration process is done formally. Once the registration is done and the plates are ready, you can take the delivery through the dealer's formal delivery process.

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

Completed the rear camera upgrade to a highline camera after the parking sensor upgrade and here is the detailed write up:
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modif...ml#post5832441 (A guide to retrofits on VW/Skoda MQB Cars in India)

That said, my car has completed 26k kms already in 26 months of use Overall its pretty much a good experience and the car loves to be driven. Since I started experimenting with these upgrades, I am curious to see the reaction when the car when taking it in for service. But I believe its only an issue when there will be a warranty claim on the car. The DSG clutch seems to be holding on with all the traffic abuse of Bangalore but I feel there is a slight runout in the clutch pack which turns up to be very slightly juddery when the clutch gets hot and I accelerate hard in first gear. Need to check the ASC what can be done with this. But with my AMT experience of driving in heavy traffic, this is bound to happen when there is repeated stop go situation. Apart from this judder, there is no other issue with shifts or performance.

For those who are interested, there is a head unit software update that fixes a few bugs, and most visibly the exit warning in the car which earlier had a funny message which spoke about not forgetting kids and engaging valet mode. Now thats replaced with a rather decent message:

Hi hieronymous,

Firstly congratulations on getting the Slavia. It is a great car and you are going to enjoy driving it.

To answer your questions,

1. Once you pay the booking amount a car is allotted against your booking. You can request them to provide the VIN number to see the car physically before making the balance payment.

2. Only once you make the full payment of the agreed on road price will the dealer proceed with buying insurance, Fastag and getting your car registered at the RTO. You can instruct them to take the car for registration on any particular date you have in mind or just let them do it as per their process. If you have opted for a car loan, request the dealer to send a picture of the payment advice they received from the bank as proof of the disbursed money being received by them.

3. The dealer will deliver your car only after the car is registered and they receive your HSRP plates and registration sticker. You do not have to worry about getting a different car as you can cross check the VIN number mentioned on the registration form before signing the same to facilitate the dealer to register your car with the RTO + they would also take your original govt ID card for registration.

4. Some dealers do deliver the car immediately after registration, based on customer request. But I would strongly advise against it as it is against the law to drive a car without proper number plates. Wait for the HSRPs, they usually come through within 2 days of registration.

5. While taking delivery of the car, remember to collect original invoice copy, insurance policy, the ID you gave for registration, extended warranty certificate(if it is ready with the dealer), check whether all accessories you paid for have been installed and most importantly collect all the cash receipts for every single payment you made. Do not forget to thoroughly check the details mentioned in your RC and insurance policy. After the car is registered you will receive a SMS from Vaahan with the details of your registration number and usually within a few hours post registration you can simply generate your RC in mParivahan app and cross check.

6. As far as I remember the SMP and extended warranty is usually activated within a week, they might have mentioned 2 months just incase there is a delay from Skoda’s end in generating the same for your car.

7. Lastly on delivery day ensure they update your vehicle registration number against the issued Fastag. For new cars the initial Fastag is generated by providing the VIN number and this should be changed to your registration number post RTO formalities.

Hope this helps!

Quick question, is it necessary to get a fastag from dealer? I would rather not get that and instead take it from a provider of my choice. Dealers charge approx. 600 bucks whereas it's just 200 outside from what I last recollect. Apart from cost savings, we would also get an options to choose from.

Absolutely not necessary to get from the dealer. Get your car, with the registration number. Apply for FasTag with the help of vaahan screenshot if RC is not readily available.

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

@Shanksta: I was allocated the VIN immediately after I booked the car. Based on the VIN, the car is a March 2024 manufactured unit. So this is a 6 month old manufactured car. This was also with the Skoda factory since the SA told me that the car has been recently dispatched from the plant.

Assuming PDI is successful, is it ok to take delivery of a 6 month old manufactured car ?

I have opted for a company car lease so the RC will be in the name of my employer and so will the insurance.
