Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

National 24-hour endurance record! Volkswagen Virtus GT has covered 4654.48km over 24 hours of nonstop driving on the NATRAX high-speed track. It beats the previous record by 270km.

Does it make any sense to (prospective) customers?

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Hello Virtus owners, hope you guys are enjoying your drives.

I have been a silent spectator of this forum for a few years now. Thought of getting membership recently and got approved.

I booked the Virtus GT plus Manual in Deep black colour last week. However, I'm still wondering if that's the right colour for me considering the construction work going on in my area and the highway trips which I'll be using the car for.

I am planning to get ceramic or graphene coating done on whichever colour I finally decide. If any of you have done the same on your cars, can you please share the approximate costs ?

Virtus GT Updates - Part 13

Delivery Date: 27th September 2022
First Year Service: 17th September 2023 - 12,500KM
Current ODO: ~17K

Been a while since I updated the thread. Had an incident since my last update which was when the car had covered about 12.5K (and got its first service)

Incident - Took the car out of the basement after work, exited the main gate and floored it as the road was empty, felt a heavy vibration which was followed by a misfire + EPC Flashing + MIL, car was vibrating badly.

I slowed down and moved to the side of the road and shut the vehicle down. Stepped out, locked the car and let it be for a few mins. Got back inside, restarted the vehicle and it started smoothly with all warning lights disappearing. Then another error shows up, start stop system malfunction. I didnt pay much attention to this and went out for dinner. A few hours later, I started the car and all the warning lights were gone and the start-stop system was working fine.

Now, I am not too sure about what happened here, I use only XP-95 and maybe this could be the reason for this random misfire. I have driven the car about 5000km since this incident and it has not repeated itself.

A friend also bought a GT

Problems that I continue to face (but havent done anything to resolve them)
1. Knocking sound from the front right suspension / brakes / steering on braking and turning (Viraat has taken a look at this, but nothing is visually wrong with the car, advised to let it get worse so its easier to find out whats going on)
2. Clock spring still ticks away when turning the steering to the left (for example when taking a uturn, moving from parking etc) - VW has already replaced this once, but that only solved half the problem, rotating the steering to the right doesnt make any noise
3. Noisy suspension at the rear - this was fixed, a shocker changed, but the sound is coming back again “dug dug dug”
AC Compressor on/off sound - Why couldnt VW pick a component that makes less noise / vibration each time the AC compressor kicks in? Now combine this with 2-cylinder mode on a low gear like 3rd and you can feel the vehicle jerk a bit

Added pedal shift extensions - didnt like how the regular ones were small, these are much nicer!

It does IMHO, increases the confidence in the product! Definitely shows the endurance of the car on long trips involving non-stop high rpm driving. I've seen the video snippets, it was running max speed (200kmph+) mostly for 24hrs, says a lot about its durability.

I've busted my Nexon's coolant pipe during one such long non-stop high speed run (10hrs+), and never dared to push the car again to such limit to avoind stranding on the highway, and I also was witness to loads of cars broken down due to over-heating on Mumbai Pune expressway during Christmas weekend.

A darker shade vehicle is always difficult to keep clean, no matter what you do, within a few hours dust and dirt are visible. Just look at my earlier post with my car parked next to a silver version (which has got ceramic). The silver car always looks cleaner!! Ceramic / Graphene can cost you anywhere between 20-30k, depending on the deal you get from your local shops.

Could be a display to showcase endurance of the car. The average speed of 194 km/h could wow potential buyers into a belief that the engine is well built to sustain loads and can run non-stop if needed. I'm not complaining. In a world of boring advertising, Volkswagen puts on some watchable and interesting ads.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Dear Bhpians

I am facing a strange issue with my 1.0 AT Virtus. I get 'phad phad phad' kind of noise while accelerating the car, irrespective of the speed at which I am accelerating. It is very similar to the noise we get when one of the windows of the car is open, except in my case no windows are open.
This noise stops when the car is moving at a constant speed. Also, it stops momentarily when the gears shifts (in auto mode).
There is no such noise when I revv up at neutral.

This is becoming very annoying by the day. Tried test drive vehicles and they don't seem to have such noise.

I have shown this to ASC but they simply deny it by terming it as operational/ engine noise.

Any idea what the cause of this noise could be? Appreciate your help and guidance on this.

AC Sound: When the Compressor kicks in, we get a hissing sound, it's pronounced after you start your car, but as you drive this should not be a pronounced sound. However, I have no vibrations in my accelerator pedal.

Horn: This is not normal or this is not due to airbags, they give such lame excuses to avoid long labour to solve the actual issue. My horn is very soft; a small toddler can use it.
I visited the SC, below were their findings:

AC sound: He told the sound is normal in every car and then added that the vibrations in pedal is a new issue that they have heard and said other Virtus cars also has this vibration, but none of the customers has complained. I checked with couple of other Virtus parked in SC, could not feel anything when I switched on the AC.

Horn: Its a lot better than before. He said clock spring was bent and they somehow fixed it. But the horn is still not functioning smoothly. We again checked in couple of other cars to verify, and they were all working as expected. SE was saying that the clock spring may break if they try to adjust it more and may cost around 19K to fix it.
After repeatedly saying this IS an issue when I am driving with one hand and my thumb is not enough to activate horn, service executive finally agreed and said he will raise a Repair Order (RO) and keep the car in service center for a couple of days. He told the specialist from VAG will visit the SC only if the car stays in SC for more than 2 days. They will fix the clock spring in steering wheel. And if they break it, they will replace the clock spring free of cost.

Should I leave the car for fixing the clock spring or should I just live with the issue? I dont want any more problems to creep up in the car.

Hi,

Please ensure they solve the horn issue, Don't live with it. Ask them to give you a loaner car or replacement car.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Does it make sense to buy Virtus or Slavia after reading all the issues written in the respective threads? It is going to be daily driver and only car for my uncle and I'm pushing him towards Verna, but he didn't sway from his decision of going with either one of them. What can I do now? Which one to pick from the two devils?

Go with the one that has maximum service centre in the city. Virtus has stiffer suspension compared to Slavia. I chose Slavia because it felt more comfortable but you can't go wrong with either of them. Also ensure to take the extended warranty without fail.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Hi,

A dongle called Cerence fell below the steering, I spoke to the dealer, and they said this is not an urgent thing to fix and to come whenever you are free.

I am unable to find the actual use for this Dongle.

Does this system help to track my car via VW Connect App ?

That is precisely what it does.

Had the same dongle dangling in the driver footwell(but had not been completely disconnected) in our Kushaq as well. Mentioned it to the service center and they rectified it but it kept recurring with the dongle falling off in a months time. Turns out it is just held in place by double side tape so I went ahead and got it done myself with good quality double side tape. Has not fallen off in a few months now.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Hey Guys. There's this dashcam issue I am facing which is bothering me since Day 1. I had a DDPAI Mini camera plugged into the USB-C front port and it was a hit-miss scenario as far as recording was concerned. I tested the USB-C Port by charging my phone or using carplay and confirmed that the port is fine.

After watching these complications, I bought a new camera (70mai A500S) and decided to go with the 12V socket this time. All I want is - Dashcam to record when I plug the cable (while driving and parked at unknown places), doesn't record when I plug it out.

Problem is - It stops recording after parked for a few minutes. (Specially during daytime). At night I tested it runs full time. Is it because of heat that it shuts down ?

Please let me know how your dashcams work and what settings are you using. Thanks in advance.
