Look at the message in just a min of opening the booking and then again there is a disclaimer that prices at the time of delivery will be applicable. What’s the point in playing this fastest finger first game. This has been faster than the one plus sale on amazon…

I was in at 10.58 AM. The payment process would not work at all. This is so unethical. I think the bookings for dealers opened earlier or were bulk uploaded at once.

No luck. It got over in couple of seconds. I have high speed broadband connection but irrespective of this, when I clicked on book now button, nothing happened and eventually got "502 Bad Gateway" error. Looks like car bookings have become like Flipkart mobile phone flash sales. Now all other car makers will follow this.

In a similar boat like you. Reminds me of tatkal booking of Railway tickets. To top it up even if you want to pay prevailing delivery prices, the payment just shows up bad gateway message.


Dear Mahindra, You must have the necessary tech to live up to the euphoria that you want to create in market. You could have simply either put this job to dealers rather than making those 25k gullible customers spend their Saturday like this !!

Clicked the Book Now button exactly at 11. Went to the payment gateway, entered card details but the button to proceed stayed greyed out. Payment Gateway failure thereafter. And now 25k bookings done. Way to fool people, Mahindra!

Even after 10 mins the Book Now button is still visible but gateway seems to have gone down with the load…otherwise this button would have been made invisible by now…

As a customer, it seems kind of deceptive / fishy. At literally 11:00:00, the BOOK NOW button was clicked, immediately, I got this prompt "All spots for Introductory Pricing are now filled. Please note, your booking will now be processed at Delivery Pricing. Click Confirm to proceed for payment.".

So basically, what is being claimed is that, in just a fraction of a second, 25,000 bookings have been confirmed and paid for. It is clear that the dealers have a clear advantage and that the "online booking" thing is just a trap, more or less.

Nevertheless, I had already sent the dealer, the booking amount of Rs. 21,000/- and I have received the message for a successful booking!

Its most probably not in the first 25,000, but let's see what the future awaits.

I reached the payment window but then it was blank and there wasn’t any link to make payment.

I was trying this simultaneously in two devices from two accounts and I got 502 bad gateway on the other device.

Same here. At exactly 11:01 am, received SMS from M&M confirming my booking. I actually gave advance to two different dealers and the second SMS to my wife's number came at 11:14 am.

I had the Z4 Diesel - AT in cart since 11th July.

I was logged in from 11:57am & clicked on "Book Now" the moment it showed the red banner (While booking, in the beginning of the first 1 minute, the website had a Red Banner that said "Introductory Pricing for the first 25000 bookings"). Google-Cloud took 10-12 seconds to respond and threw up a "502 Bad Gateway" error.

Logged in again within the same minute and it still showed the same red banner, but again the same "502 Bad Gateway" error after clicking Book Now.

The third attempt within 11:01am , said "Price as per delivery will be applicable to you", still clicked Book Now, and IIRC I got an "504 Error - Timed Out".

IMO this is just a marketing gimmick and I can imagine them putting up promotions asif their cars got sold off like Xiaomi phone flash sale.

Tried again a few minutes later and still got the "502 Bad Gateway" error! This is really funny, don't they want to sell to customers willing to pay price as per delivery date ?

I would like to think so and give the benefit of doubt to mahindra, however, you can see that initial brochures came with airbags showing full 3 row coverage.

Seems to be a direct result of cost cutting and greed to increase the profit margin.

There is no way Mahindra planned side facing seats for normal customers, may be these models were planned to be sold to the government (army, police etc). Side facing seats directly make safety rating = 0. Mahindra knows this all too well as they discontinued the Thar base models.

But providing curtain airbags till 3rd row would mean, when the airbags deploy and explode to inflate, it might end up causing sever injury to 3rd row side facing passenger. Now designing 2 different curtain airbag system would mean lot of moving parts and control variable, which might necessitate additional crash testing for homologation for them to receive type approval. This exercise is a lot expensive. This probably might be the reason why they skipped the 3rd curtain airbag.
