Well i have been looking to replace my Swift VDI since 3 months , took a test drive for polo a month back , liked the car except for interior space and engine .

Today i got a call from the VW sales person , that if i am interested in 1.6 polo, they have started taking booking ,also the car will be delivered within a month positively.

And to my surprise it is just 30K more then the top end 1.2 highline

1.6 polo at that price , i am seriously considering it now !

Edit - Congrats Rahul

With deliveries of base versions already behind schedule, and the Highline models being impacted most, how does VW plan to launch a 1.6 highline anytime soon?
All this seems like a lot of speculation to me, especially on a dealer's part. He stands to sit on your booking amount for as long as it takes for a 1.6 Hatch to actually roll down the assembly line and into your dealership.
Or is VW planning on opening another long queue for the 1.6 hatch without anyone having seen hide or hair of it?
I was thinking of the exact same thing. VW has already such long waiting periods for the Highline version of the 1.2. How are they planning to squeeze in and manage the launch of the 1.6l highline??

@ Rahul
Congrats buddy, I really hope you do get your car on the date promised to you as this seems very confuzing. Anyways because certain parts which go into the Highline need to be imported,, a long waiting period is created. Its not for really going to make a big diff whether its a 1.2 or 1.6l.

I just spoke again to the VW showroom here in Chennai. They claim that bookings are not open for the 1.6.
Strange! Is it normal for some dealers to open bookings and some not to?

It's strange that even the VW dealer in Mumbai does not know the price of the 1.6 and bookings have not yet started! And he said that the 1.6 might even take longer to deliver than the 1.2!

There has been instances of "unofficial booking" in some dealers. They collect 10k INR for this. After the official launch, the remaining 40k has to be paid. I don't know for what joy.

Got to know some of the prices of some of the accessories for POLO. The alloy wheels costs Rs. 17000.00 for one piece, thats quite extraordinary that too without VW logo on it. Lumar Films costs around Rs. 4300.

The parking sensors available are just audio thing which only gives the distance of back from obstructions. This made me realize that the parking sensors are pretty much useless for odd Rs. 3000.00. The ICE comes up with VW logo on the box which are really not VFM but will prevent warranty void, need to think over that. ICE with USB costs around Rs. 11000 with two 2-way front speakers.

Pricey to say the least.

Guess they had to offset the low spares' cost somewhere.

I spoke to VW dealer in Ahmedabad. The sales person had no clue on 1.6 Polo. As per him "company is unable to match the demands of 1.2 variants as of now, why would they bring 1.6 and make things even more complicated"

Just spoke to VW Downtown Mumbai. The sales head for the Polo told me that they have started bookings for the 1.6.

Polo 1.6 Highline bookings have definitely started. I booked one in Reflex Silver earlier today.

They are calling the Vento just that, not Polo sedan. Polo is the hatch, so no confusion there.

I posted it sometime back, when I checked @VW Pune, I was informed that the price ranges are 10.8K to 22.5K,
Kenwood 1 Din and 2 DIN car audio with 4 spkrs + installation charges.

Very strange indeed! Chennai showroom is very sure that bookings for 1.6 have not started.

Anyway, what are the delivery timelines?
