Dont worry it wont happen this way, and the spare is just meant for you to limp to the nearest puncture repair shop.

the 14 should use a higher profile tire so that the overall diameter is the same. Less metal, more rubber.

Overall wheel diameter is the same. The wheel disk is smaller. The loss in diameter is covered by the higher profile (thicker rubber) of the ghier

i am thoroughly confused how Polo 1.6 reached an aam admi before it was given for test drive to experts and enthusiasts. I have never seen an official test drive report of this car.

My friend and Polo 1.6 owner also felt same about the initial delay, May be something to do with clutch setting or they designed it in that way or we were expecting little too much, asked him to check with SP.

We have to wait for GTO's review to know more.
Could the 2-3 second delay with 4 passengers be because of the comparative low torque on the 1.6? I hardly understand this myself, but I heard some others say that the torque increase from 1.2 to 1.6 wasn't commensurate.

vvvinod: Could you do me a favor and find out for me if the lease quote includes insurance?

The reason is because you quoted:
On Road Bangalore : 7,23,384 ( after 10k corp discount)

Whereas someone said VW Palace Orchards quoted them:
Price (Ex-Showroom) - Rs.6,21,476
Insurance - Rs. 25,298
Life time road tax - Rs. 95,708
Regn and handling - Rs. 6,000
On Road Cost - Rs. 7,48,482

I am trying to figure out why there is a disparity of ~25K.

A 2 wheeler guy already tested the quality of Front bumber , It came out but no scratch and VW Service Center fixed it for free of cost.

the car might steer towards one side, but that should be all. unless you hit a mighty pothole at not-that-slow speeds.

from safety perspective tho, they should offer alloy swap for the 5th wheel via dealers at fair price.

I guess the whole point to ensure the car reaches a safe place to repair its punctured/damaged tyre. Actually, somewhere in this forum I'v seen a BMW corporate edition, getting a puny pulsar like tyre for a spare. Well, a 175/70/14 is better than that.

btw, I think, the spare tyre is the outcome of VW's cost cutting.

I never actually saw one, and I don't know if it has continued, but there was a trend towards giving only an "emergency" tyre as a spare. I suppose it saves costs, it certainly saves space.

I hope VW will recall all the 1.6 Polos (assuming that they all sell with the 175/R14 spare tyre) and replace the spare tyre & wheel with the 15" alloys, 185 spec tyre. Cost cutting is understood but to have different spec wheel/tyre as a spare is . What does German Engineering have to say about this?

I remember when I bought my Swift ZXi 4 years ago, the spare wheel was a steel rim with thinner rubber. Sense prevailed with MUL and they later recalled all ZXi owners and provided the alloy/wider rubber tyre as the spare.

Thanks vvvinod! That explains it.

Now only if I could get a detailed report!

I just want to make sure I took the right decision.

Info on fuel consumption would be especially enlightening.
