Move aside Harry Potter, even our newspapers can talk these days and hopefully one day, we should have a newspaper that has videos as well.

Brilliant ad campaign. Hope the car maintains the 'wow' factor they created.

Are they giving the configuration options in India? will wonders never cease. Thats superb.

OT: Year 2000, i was part of the testing team of the VW configuration web site.

I thought it was some toy of my daughter making a noise in the drawing room.
I postponed my decision to change my honda city cvt to the new honda city auto and looks like this could be an alternative....the only fact that this being a german car, which i hate, for their maintenance costs.

A friend of mine had made a comment (positive) about this morning's ad blitz in facebook. In ten minutes time he received a thank you message from VW.

It seems to be a pretty strong and serious marketing drive. Hope they show the same vigor in A** also.

Vento - Optional Equipment

Here is the list of optional equipment offering from VW for Vento (from Vento configurator). Can anyone who booked the Vento check with the dealer about this list.

When i enquired about music system upgrade with VW dealer model, he said it can't be done for Trendline.

Could someone find out what is the "Side door protector with Vento lettering"?

Is it the rubber strip that protects the doors?

Is there a comparison TD report available between HC AT and Vento AT along with fuel efficiency test?

The music system choices seem really nice but a bit pricey, i hope Linea also now include a usb port with their variant at least give a option.

It actually depends on the dealer. They have many different options for the Vento. The list is the official accessories that VW released.
When i asked for the leather seats, VW Cochin quoted 25k. Am not sure whether this is just the dealer package or the one that VW provides. So am waiting to make a decision on that.

VW seems to be doing good PR these days, the one that appeared in Yesterday's Hindu is good as well, emotionally attached.

Vento 1.6 Petrol - 8-valve or 16-valve?

Could somebody comment whether Vento petrol comes with 8-valve or 16-valve engines? The official specs say 4-cylinder, DOHC. I thought DOHC will automatically mean 16-valve, but VW is silent on that. With a little bit of research, I found that VW has both 8-valve and 16-valve DOHC variants of 1.6L GTi Golf engines. While 8v has good low-end torque suited for city driving, it lacks breath at high rpms.

If Honda City is Vento's prime target, have they compromised performance for easy city driving experience?

To add to confusion, Autos Maxabout.com says Vento comes with 8v engine, while MSN Autos says it's 16v.

So, does Vento have an 8v or 16v engine?

Also, will the engine have variable valve technology (VVT)?

It looks like VW Vento Accessories price are down to earth compared to Honda Accessories. Hope now Honda will learn soon lesson. I really want Vento to Click so that Honda wakes up and think sanely when pricing.

Thanks, ajai_dev!

These are called door sill protectors on the Polo, hence my confusion.

In that case, what is a door step?

Im quite sure the Vento has a 16v engine and its different from the old 8v engine used in the Jetta 1.6.

The door step is what ajai_dev has posted. Door side protectors are those rubber strips running along the doors.

Thank you Akshay. Pg 20 of Vento brochure ("Engines and Transmissions") also says that it's 16-valve. Sorry, I missed that earlier.

What about VVT? Can the claimed fuel efficiency be achieved without variable valve timing?

Why is the power-torque curve for petrol engine missing?

What is the bore:stroke ratio?

What are the gear ratios?

Does anybody have any clues?

I have booked a Vento 1.6L Petrol MT Highline early this month without an opportunity for test drive and now I've to imagine its performance based on engine specs. Thanks, in anticipation, for any data or insight.
