Re: Trusted/Untrusted Petrol Pumps in Pune

^^^personal experience? Yes! of course the price differential should be within limits. At ~71/ltr and getting a 1 kmpl gain, it certainly makes sense monetarily. The benefit of better service and better fuel for engine is a bonus (or should it be the other way round? )

Re: Trusted/Untrusted Petrol Pumps in Pune

Really, at the end of the day, Shell gives the most trustworthy petrol. Too bad they closed shop at Chandan Nagar which was closest for me.

My last fill up was at Pimpri Shell station where I paid 78.5 per liter. I think that was a personal record. But car is running real smooth and giving a tad higher FE.

I am comparing it the fuel quality with that of Autolines at Shivaji Nagar.
Well, my car is modified & shell gives me much more oomph than any of the indian companies...& i've tried them all. Only exception is Speed 97, but that is hardly available.

So yes, for me it is definately worth it...just like Loreal!!

Re: Trusted/Untrusted Petrol Pumps in Pune

After paying Rs78+ at Shell during the last fill, yesterday's regular fill at IOC Mundhwa felt positively cheaper!

As @mdsaab mentioned in the Civic thread, nowadays regular petrol at Shell is 72, which is not bad. However I will have to spend 1 liter to go to Shell from home and back.

@dot buddy, had filled up at shell once or twice. and i feel it's definately worth it. Even if you have to spend a liter of petrol. Go and fill up at shell.
Also give me the details of where the pump is, will try and fill up from there myself too.

I've advanced my ignition timing. Wish I had 1 more!

If i go for lesser octane rating, the ECU does not allow me to take full advantage of this mod, as it cuts the timing.

Well it is the same pump where you also filled up Chicca; the Pimpri outlet. One incentive to go there would be to visit D-mart alongside. But why to go to Chinchwad D-mart when you have another one next to your house.

The Shell outlet near Chadan nagar has shut shop. I wish they would reopen.

Re: Trusted/Untrusted Petrol Pumps in Pune

Well I have never filled at Shell so far. The Shell petrol bunks are out of reach both from geography perspective and from monetary perspective if I were to fill up my 50 lit. tank.

I could have tried the one at Chandan Nagar/ Kharadi bypass since it falls on route, but it is closed since eternity. At the moment, Modi petrol pump (BP) near station seems to be the closest and best option for me.

OK yes i remember you told me you filled up from there.
You are right that is too far and will cost a lot to just go and fill up there.
Probably more than 1 liter in my case.

Ever since mmxylorider posted about his decent experience at the BP pump in Hinjewadi phase 2 [the one near Wipro campus], I regularly fill diesel in my Scorpio there. No complaints till now, touchwood!

If you don't mind driving a few kms more, the Sai Service pump on the Mumbai - B'lore bypass [the 2nd HP pump on the left after Wakad if you are driving towards Mumbai] is also okay. Although, diesel is dearer at this pump by Re.1.xx than in H'wadi. I have filled quite a few times there, without any untoward experiences.

Cheers,
Vikram
