Re: ARTICLE: RTO Hypothecation Removal Process - Step by Step Guide

Looks like the process is smoother elsewhere.

In Koramangala RTO, Bangalore, its nothing short of a nightmare.
A simple updating of the RC book what should take less than a day to remove the loan entry is pending more than 2 months. Extremely incompetent and don't care attitude exhibited.

Even I had been to Koramangala RTO yesterday, and found people very negligent there. I had been to get my hypothetication removed for my bike and the person who had to authorize was very slow in every aspect but still I managed to complete it in ten mins. I have to wait and see when I will get my RC book back.

Whereas Rajajinagar RTO was the best and the experience there was good. As promised by them the RC book of my car was delivered within 15 days.

I'm more inclined to believe that they are after a bribe, otherwise I see no reason to delay by 2+ months what should take a max of 15 days.
Have visited atleast 6 times now.

They always start with the circus of searching for the file from among the big heap of unorganized files strewn all around.
Then they take the acknowledgement to the person sitting in the back with the PC and she looks into the PC and replies its not yet done.
They do one of the following:
Then they either ask to come back another day, or
if the file is not found, they will say, it has to be searched.
if the file has been found, they say it will be done next week.
They take down your number and say they'll call and then not call back.

Re: ARTICLE: RTO Hypothecation Removal Process - Step by Step Guide

Finally got my updated RC, without having to pay anything extra.
They could have given in 15 days, but took 80 days with lot of follow up.

Good to know you got your RC book back. Did you receive it through post? Or you collected it personally during your follow up?? I have to wait and watch what happens in my case

Re: ARTICLE: RTO Hypothecation Removal Process - Step by Step Guide

Well surprisingly the process at Delhi RTO for removing hypothecation was butter smooth. Didn't use the services of any agent and the RTO staff was quite courteous. Picked up my updated RC from the RTO in a month. The delay was cited due to the excessive holidays during these last 2 months.

I collected it personally. RC card inside the stamped envelope (provided to them for posting within 15 days, but didn't serve its purpose )

Re: ARTICLE: RTO Hypothecation Removal Process - Step by Step Guide

I am looking to remove the hypothecation on my FZ. My bike is registered at KA-05 RTO and I currently reside in KA-53 limits so do I need to apply for a change of address also? Which RTO should I approach? In case if I need to change the address what documents should I produce?

I searched the entire thread but could not find a clear answer to this..

I was surprised once I reached home from office today, my RC book was delivered and I was shocked as I was expecting a delay of at-least 10 days based on your feedback. I was relieved, that I did not encounter a situation where I had to travel all the way till Koramangala from Vijayanagar.

You don't have to change your address to get your hypothecation removed. You can just visit the Jayanagar (Bangalore South) RTO and pay a 100Rs challan for hypothecation removal and submit the below documents along with it,

1. Original RC book enclosed in a small transparent cover(you will get it in any xerox shops near the RTO)
2. 15 re envelope with your postal address written on it, for the RC book to be delivered.
3. Photocopy of your Bike Insurance.
4. Photocopy of Emission Certificate.
5. NOC from your bank for successful completion of the loan.
6. Challan provided when you pay the fees

Make sure you attach all this and submit it. Do not forget to take the acknowledgement after submitting. It should be 10-15 mins work once you are in the RTO.

Let me know if you have more clarifications.

@fusionbang, Thank you

And will they be sending the RC to my KR Puram address without a change of address or will I have to collect it personally from the Jayanagar RTO?

It will be sent to the address whatever you have specified on the envelope. You don't have to visit them and collect it.

Re: ARTICLE: RTO Hypothecation Removal Process - Step by Step Guide

Hi all,

Thanks for all the info and useful tips. I have a couple of additional queries:
  • My car has a KA-01 regn no. and I reside in Marathahalli. Which RTO should I be going to?
  • Will they "update" the existing smartcard RC or will they issue a new one?
  • The address on my DL is not the same as my RC. Will it be an issue?

Thanks in advance...

    - You need to visit Bangalore Central RTO - Koramangala
  • Will they "update" the existing smartcard RC or will they issue a new one?
    - Yes they will update the existing RC smartcard, which you need to attach in a small cover while giving it for Hypothecation Removal. THe same card will be returned to you after updating the data.
  • The address on my DL is not the same as my RC. Will it be an issue?
    - No it should not be an issue. They don't even ask for your DL in this process.

Thanks in advance...
