Till date I have not received my new registration!
I have personally visited the RTO office in Andheri(Mumbai) on the 29th Jan 2015. (as agents had been banned from entering)

All I received at that time is a "Vehicle Information" certificate for which I had to pay 50/-.
I had been assured that the "New" smart card wold be received in about a month!
It is now 9 months adequate time to have had a baby!!

Re: ARTICLE: RTO Hypothecation Removal Process - Step by Step Guide

Today morning visited the Indiranagar RTO for Hypothecation Termination. What a pleasantly smooth experience!

Firstly thanks to other members in this forum I already knew what documents were needed, where to go etc. I got the following documents in a neat folder:

- Original Form 35 in duplicate (provided by bank)
- Original NOC in duplicate (provided by bank)
- Self attested copy of Emission Certificate
- Self attested copy of Insurance
- Self attested copy of PAN Card
- Self attested copy of UID (for address proof)
- An extra address proof (LPG bill)
- RC Smart card (was put in a transparent cover)

Bought a green cloth envelope with 17/- stamps affixed on it from a tout downstairs (cost 30/-) and a file folder for 8/-. Armed with all these went directly to Room No. 13 where a gentleman behind the counter verified all the documents and told me to pay 100/- termination fee (fee is to be paid in Room No. 1. For General Knowledge of people visiting the RTO to get this job done themselves, the Cash Counters are open from 10AM to 2:30PM Mon-Fri and from 10AM to 12AM on Sat). There were hardly any lines anywhere and I was back in Room 13 for final submission along with fee challan in virtually no time. Received an acknowledgement slip and was out in less than 30 mins!!!

Total loss to pocket: 138/- in the RTO and about 200/- in Bus/Auto fare to/fro.

I was not sure about parking availability so didnt take my car but at least at this time of day (morning 10 AM) there was ample parking available.

Feeling quite happy now (and really more happy because the concierge helpdesk in our company had quoted me 3500/- to get this job done!!) An agonizing wait for the RC now. Official quoted time is 30 working days!

Re: ARTICLE: RTO Hypothecation Removal Process - Step by Step Guide

Hi Guys,

Asking the query for the umpteenth time- I have an outstanding loan on my car which I am foreclosing tomorrow. I am also moving out of Bangalore in a month's time. So which of the following is true?
1. I complete foreclosure formalities, take form 35 and submit it in RTO for hypothecation removal. I wait for a few days to receive my updated smart card and then apply for NOC.

1. I complete foreclosure formalities, take form 35 and submit it for both NOC and hypothecation removal.

Any guidance will help immensely. My car falls under KA51 RTO

Did you take your car on loan? IF yes, then it would be on hypothecation and you need to get it removed.

Re: ARTICLE: RTO Hypothecation Removal Process - Step by Step Guide

I had the hypothecation removed. Now, waiting for the RC to be delivered. They said it will be delivered in 15 working days.

This was a smooth process, thanks to fellow BHP-ians.

For the reference of others, vehicles registered in Koramangala, Bangalore RTO (KA 01) need to complete the formalities in room no. 11. Right from, paying the fee to the verification of documents and getting the final receipt.

Read the list of documents listed in previous posts and follow the process.

The whole thing took me around 20mins only.

Thanks again!

Been waiting for one and half month now. No sight of the RC :(

Looks like will have to visit the RTO. Now what is the procedure to get the RC. What if the official there says we have already posted it ?

In this case you must approach them with the receipt.

In case they already posted it, they might have some records.

Do visit the RTO to find this out, no other resolution that I can think of.

Keeping fingers crossed for my car's RC.

You will have to close the loan first. Then you will receive the Form 35 and NOC from the bank. The NOC is valid for 3 months in most of the cases. Please check with the bank. Even if you overshoot the period, you can request the bank for another NOC.

Then you need to visit the RTO where the car is registered and get the formalities done to get the hypothecation removed.

Exactly 2 months it took them. i was thinking of visiting the RTO next week. Thankfully spared of the same.

Lesson is - things do work in India without having to resort to corruption, only it takes time.

Car registered in Mumbai, I am currently in Delhi- HELP

Can anyone help me regarding hypothecation removal.
My car is registered in Mumbai - MH1. However, currently I am in Delhi.

1. Is there a way I can get the hypothecation removed sitting in Delhi through some one else? Or do I have to visit the RTO in person?
2. Reliance Commerical, my lender is going to give me one copy of NOC, one copy of Form 35. Is that sufficient for hypothecation removal?
3. Is address proof of Mumbai needed? I dont reside there currently and dont have one as well.

I think it will be delivered in-hand. they wont leave it in your letter box if nobodys home. I think you have to sign the delivery as well. Maybe a check mechanism to make sure it is delivered to the right person.

Re: ARTICLE: RTO Hypothecation Removal Process - Step by Step Guide

Just came back from Pune RTO (near Sangam Bridge). I had went to get my hypothecation removed.

Documents required:
1) Form 35 - Original - 2 copies
2) NOC Issued by Bank - Original - 1 copy
3) PUC Xerox copy - 1
4) Insurance Xerox copy - 1
5) RC book - Original - 1

Affix your photo and write your mobile number on NOC. Hand over these documents to person seating at counter no. 15. After this, pay a fee of 150/- to the next counter (dont remember the no., but it is adjacent to the counter no. 15. ). Get the receipt and you are done. The new RC will arrive at your address in 15 days. The whole process took exactly 30 minutes.
