the so called ""maroon'' one is a famous beetle from Kerala. It appeared extensively in a Mohanlal movie ""Hello my dear wrong number"" directed by PRIYADARSHAN in 1986.It was later purchased by Priyan himself and it was taken to Madras. He has mentioned abt it in many interviews and especially how his wife Lissy(former actress) disliked it...If my info is correct it was with him till a few years ago.I dont know its current wherabouts.
The TN beetle from chennai belongs to the car collector Ranjit Prathap.
The grey Microbus shown in the other photo should have been part of Kunjayi's cars because the 3184 Shown there was his RED SUNBEAM TALBOT 10 which was sold to Bombay about 4 years ago.
The Microbus must be the one that went to Velan Hotels (Madurai),not sure!!!

Re: Classic Volkswagens in India

Spotted this Nice Beetle in Hyderabad. Except for the paint missing on the rear fender, the car seemed to be in lovely shape.

This car has appeared in some of the rallies here as well. Nice car, but wonder why no numberplates, even then...!

Both these cars apparently are from Namma Bengaluru.

While the White one is a 86 Beetle, which i have been seeing at my friends house since a really long time, the Black one is a 1965, landed in Hyderabad in March / April , but soon have changed hands since then.

Regarding no Number plates.....

The light blue junk MZA car was lying in a Pune workshop. I believe a Pune collector had taken it and dismantled it for spares. The car was really quite rough.

The KLE Bus is now in Bombay.

I think this car was posted earlier, a 69 semi automatic. Did it have a clutch pedal?
