This is just a photo shoot, the car is situated on the outskirts of Bangalore and belongs to Mrs Lin, She will never part with this car, Its a proper 1969 Beetle. Sometime back i was asked to get this car up and running, but somehow things did not go forward from there.

Ajay, no harm in putting unmasked pics.

Re: Classic Volkswagens in India

Hi there I belive this Beetle hasnt ever been seen on the forum before. I had the pleasure of meeting Romerio in Goa recently.
His father who bought the car brand new in a Goa dealership in 1960.
He then in 61 Drove the car to Pakistan where he working until 1971, then drove the car back to Goa,where he used it regularly until he passed away. It was then that his son Romerio took the car over, its in excellent condition and regularly serviced and driven . I arranged to meet him and here are some of the pics i took.

If it is a 60 model car as mentioned, then there are lots of non 60 beetle stuff in this car.The bumpers are of later model,so are the tail lamps, turnsignals, number plate lights,etc...

AJ i dont belive anyone said that this is a stock original beetle as it very obviously not but it is a very clean car and still a 1960 car that gets used
on a regular basis and its never had a full restoration either.

There were 2 awesome 2 Door Rabbits in Hyderabad until 2007 when they suddenly disappeared.
I could lay my hands on this 4 Door beauty however.
Best past is that traffic police think it is a Hyderabad Registration plate where as it is actually Haryana (HYU) !!!

I dont think that, too much of production,is a criteria to decide whether an automobile is a classic or not.

VW golf(rabbit) is a mass produced car like the Jetta and is not going to be a classic in the recent future. In kerala itself there are a few of these still in service
