A very close look at the pics, and I think it's a 1962.

An enlarged pic of the hood, shows the holes for the Wolfsburg crest. This would make it a pre 1963 Bug.

Classic Volkswagens in India-hood.jpg

The tail lamps narrow down the model year, since this style of tail lamp was used from 1962 onwards. Hence it is a 1962.

This vehicle sports the hood handle and chrome trim from a later model. Probably, at some point, the vehicle underwent a restoration, and due to paucity of parts, the chrome trim and hood handle were taken from a later Beetle, and the Wolfsburg crest was removed.

On a related note, the fender indicators are also from a later model, probably replaced at the same time as the hood handle and chrome strip.

Well caught. It is indeed a pre 63 car, used to earlier lie sheltered, been this way now for years, but amazingly still is by and large intact.

Those are custom modified bumper brackets, over this the ORIGINAL Bumpers will be fitted.

The upholstery work will begin in the next few weeks, wait untill the final pics.

Yes. There seems to be a dent. Its a pity. Who wouldn't want to keep a piece of history especially if it works. :(
