Hey of course! I certainly dont mind being 'bugged'!
Just that as I mentioned, the work may sometimes go slow or other problems like what I'm facing with the net at home may cause some silence on my part sometimes!

You try for that white herald again?

Eager though I know you guys are, please understand Indrojit, that I can post updates only when there is some WORK going on at the place, which I can take photos of and report on! I obviously cant make anything up if nothing's going on!

I'm going to the place everyday to check for progress and the moment work resumes and carries on, it's understood that there will be updates from me pronto, be assured.

Updates at laaaast!!

As promised here is today's update:

Finally the work on the chassis has resumed today. The front RH outer rail too replaced. And also some patchwork on the front RH suspension support.

Meanwhile my mech's decided to start work on the rear suspension, one of the rear axles being taken with us to be done up. He's pointed out that the axle flange (arrowed) is weak though, with lots of play. I do happen to have a complete Herald rear suspension with me, maybe if need be, can replace with the flange from that.

More as work progresses.

Correction: Not ALL of them- but certainly most of them!

I guess I procured them through bad luck!

OK, more updates!!

Chassis nearly completed now! Reaching final stages of welding/patchwork, now on the underside.
Only the front supporting members (connecting the horizontal crossbar) need to be patched up, which will be done during the body fitting as they have to check the bonnet alignment etc. with it, it being the mounting for the bonnet.

Rear suspension work also getting done. Diff. all cleaned up and sure looks good now!

Rear axle halfshaft also getting cleaned of all the muck. The other one to be brought in too shortly.

Shyam, do you plan for any stress relieving treatment in the chassis? I feel lots of weld at critical joints will result in stress concentration which is bad. Shot blasting/sand blasting?

Finally the work has begun once again!I am looking forward to it now going on and not stopping mid way! What's on the mechanical side and what's happening with the vauxhall?

will you be painting the diff as well.....like i said get a sandblasting gun and blast the diff with it......perfect surface for painting can be created. the gun will cost 500 bucks man.....cmon....thats the only way u can get a lasting finish for things like the diff that have not so flat surfaces and many corners and cant be sanded with sandpaper.

Note from the Team-BHP Support Team : Please take the time to use proper punctuation as per Team-BHP rules. Avoid...typing...like...this. Thanks.

Yes, the diff. will be painted of course.I did plan for sandblasting, but then the owner wasn't really in for it. So decided to opt out.

Me looking forward to the same thing too!

So far so much on the mechanical side. Vauxhall is at a standstill I'm afraid! The mech. tells me he intends to fit the diff. and rear suspension back on but has been postponing owning to the heat all these days! Its rather cloudy here now so have been egging him on to get to work on it.

It could take 6 months longer until this car is fully done. Especially since I'm taking a break most of this month because of my exams (19th-28th)
Meanwhile, here is a diff. seal kit I ordered and got from ebay UK.

Slow but steady progress is being made on this car it seems. BTW Shyam bhai what measure is taken to keep the body of the car free from rust. And what about the trims and gauges. Hope they are with you.
