Racing boots offer maximum protection but you can also consider touring boots which are very comfortable. Spartan recently launched a pair of boots in the racing and touring range and they are pretty good VFM.

You could also consider Sidi, Dainese or Alpinestar boots. A* retails at Orion Yamaha behind the Forum Mall.

Thats some lame analogy you have there Sojogator! 30K commuter bike. A guy buying a 30K commuter bike knows his needs are restricted to a helmet. And how many of the "30k commuter" bike buyers are even aware of riding gear? To most road users, it is amusing to see us all geared up and think we have a medical problem and supporting ourselves with the help of contraption.

That apart - Navin only meant to say - Do not compromise on gear! Quality gear saves life - Trust me when I say this - Have been through it myself and have seen people walk out of a crash on HEAVY bikes because of quality gear!

Looks nice and strong. Surely will have a look. No CE cert but seems very well built. Moto101 would stock them I guess.

Oh! Yes. Orion motors and I have a 6.5 year old relation Been to that store quite a few times and I plan to be there on this weekend to try the boots out. And a visit to the Dainese store as well and try the TR Course too.

The shoes are pretty solid IF you can live with the laces. Takes nearly 5 minutes to put them on. I am now looking for something with zippers for quick wear.

Anyone have any experience with SPIDI gear? Ordering a pair of riding jeans (SPIDI Furious black) and wanted to check whether anyone uses them? Already have a pair of AGV Sport pants which are too big so need something that fits better.

I need to pick up a good touring boots and need suggestions/reviews about the three boots that I have shortlisted:

1. Spartan Aspida - Hercules: Spartan ProGear

2. Joe Rocket Mens Ballistic Touring Boots: Joe Rocket

3. Tarmac Tour: Tarmac

So far I have heard great reviews of Spartan ProGear. I have bought a SOL Metal Man II helmet and a Helios jacket from them. So far, I am very happy customer of Spartan ProGear.

However, I haven't had any personal experience with Joe Rocket or Tarmac. So a little confused, as all the three look amazing. I am yet to see these boots personally though.

My personal opinion, please invest in proper riding boots. If not, why waste 2600 when a 500 buck DMS would be as good if not tougher and longer lasting and offer equal if not better protection?

Neither would be comparable to proper riding boots.

Between the Spartan and the Tarmac, the Spartan is an al leather upper vs leather+man-made for the Tarmac. Cost being the same, I would go with the Spartan.

The Joe Rocket is available where in India? How much?

I would suggest the Aspida offering because they easier to reach in case of a problem. Plus you are happy with them.

@djay99 uses the street boot from Tarmac and says they are very well built and looks like will last and protect well.

I checked out the links to all 3. The Joe Rocket is definitely not "discreet" + its is synthetic upper. A no-no for me at least when it comes to riding boots or any shoes for that matter.

Same with the Tarmac which is a mix of leather and synthetic.

If you are getting a full leather upper for the same price as a lether+synthetic upper, I would go for full leather.

Assuming the construction, zipper quality, velcro flap width overlap coverage (with lever operation movement, narrow flaps open up or start "splitting", spoiling the snugness of the fit, and let in water through the zippers in the rains), and the ankle cup stiffness and support, plus the thickness and stiffness of the shin plate, are all comparable.

Also of course check out the soles, not so much the tread, as the thickness and flex. Even though you do not walk in these boots, the soles do wear out eventually, and poor quality soles will also crack a lot before they actually wear down.

Most important note: None of this can be done online.

The Spidi jeans arrived 4 days after I ordered them, with zero duty to be paid. I think at 10k all inclusive from Icasques.co.uk, they were a steal. They have expansion panels in the knees which look a bit girly and they are slim fit. In my case, I ordered the size 38 (which is a tad small, but since I'm on a fat loss mission, they are my current target). They're a bit too long but with the velcro armor inserts, the knee armor can be correctly adjusted

The one drawback I've noticed is that while riding, the hip armor tends to make the pocket very tight (and I was worried about the screen on my cellphone shattering, but it luckily didn't). Overall its a great purchase, with CE armor in the knees and hips.
