re: The Yamuna Expressway!

In recent times, the speed violation has been taken very strictly as compared to when the road opened up 3 years ago. I often travel to Delhi from Agra, have been pulled over at the Mathura toll a couple of times when the toll ticket is scanned by the operator.

There are formal traffic policemen at the toll barriers who escort you to the side while the toll operator confiscates the toll ticket until dealt with the police.

I have personally never been actually penalised, even when pulled over. But they are not ignoring the fact that their cameras have caught you doing 100+kph.
I am not aware of the rumour/fact that drivers licenses are confiscated and/or cancelled or how much monetary fine is charged.

re: The Yamuna Expressway!

@lemedico; I am glad they are clamping down. I have seen quite a lot of vehicles going to town, probably 120-140kph! No charity on these.

What also needs to be checked in 'driving under the influence' and wandering across lanes.

re: The Yamuna Expressway!

Just saw this Tweet. People planning to undertake a journey on 24th October should plan accordingly. Since it's near Agra, I guess it would be on YEW.

re: The Yamuna Expressway!

Yes, this is all over. But I thought it was for the Agra-Lko E'way and not Tamuna E'way. We have adopted the international practice (I think pioneered by the Swedes) of using highways as alternate airstrips. In a way unless you start operating with heavy cargo planes you do not need much work for occasional fighter landings. However, it is still good to provide for reinforced high stress areas (landing points).

One other advantage of these is to provide for operations closer to the war zone.

I am wondering whether any hostilities are envisaged?

re: The Yamuna Expressway!

On the spot challan from today on Yamuna Expressway: Illegal run of speed demons to come to an end.

Quote:
Starting Friday, the Gautam Budh Nagar traffic police, in association with the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), will start issuing on-the-spot challans against vehicles caught violating traffic rules on the Yamuna Expressway. Anyone caught speeding over 100 km/h will be handed a challan at the Jewar toll plaza. Besides this, Jaypee Infratech will install streetlights on the 165 km stretch of the expressway and it has also been directed to take measure to curb the number of accidents on the eway. Challans sent by the police through post office usually go undelivered to the vehicle owners, and hence the outdated method has been replaced.
Quote:
Yamuna Expressway stretching 165 km. Connects two popular international tourist destinations of Delhi and Agra. Yamuna Expressway, a 6-lane (extendable to 8 lanes) access controlled Expressway, is planned to have 5 LFDs (Land of concessionaire) with facilities of 4 Toll Plazas, and 6 Interchanges along the entire length.

Have on the spot challans started on Yamuna expressway? Or is it yet to be implemented?

Just drove over the expressway over the weekend. Did not get challaned. Did not see anything in place also.

100 kmph is too low a speed for that road. Need to increase it to 120 atleast

I see your location as Gurgaon, did you go via KMP? I am curious to know if they have linked Palwal with the YE?

No. the KMP interchange at Yamuna Expressway is not there. The land has been allocated, but construction is yet to begin. So its a few years away.

I have to traverse Delhi (Gurgaon Delhi Expressway- AIIMS(new exit from AIIMS flyover to Barapullah)-Barapullah-DND-Greater Noida Expressway- Yamuna Expressway)

100 kmph only. Frankly, it's next to impossible to not drive over this speed. Needs to be increased to atleast 120.

re: The Yamuna Expressway!

I set my GPS to 110kph and the car cruise control seems to be quite happy. I guess that comes within the 'headroom' permitted.

re: The Yamuna Expressway!

Is the expressway straight through to Lucknow from Noida? When I used it in Jan'16 it ended well short of Agra and one turned down literally to an ordinary NH. I plan a Noida -Lucknow- Noida run in September.

From Noida, you'll have to take Greater Noida Expressway, then Yamuna Expressway and then on to the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. The Agra-Lucknow Expressway is very well connected to Yamuna Expressway via ring road.

Details can be read here. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-travel-queries/124998-agra-lucknow-expressway-fast-track-edit-formally-inaugurated.html

Actually, there is a link from the Lko-Agra E'way to the YE so you never have to really get off.

I have used it a few times. The signposting is a bit poor to say the least. In fact coming from the YE you do not take the left exit but the right exit.

Exactly, after leaving the old H/way (NH 19) on left, you actually head towards the Agra City on slight rightish. Then a left turn (you have to pay toll again here before joining the connecting road - about 2 km) for ALE. Be careful here, not to miss this exit.

ALE toll booth will be few kms ahead from this toll booth.
