re: The Yamuna Expressway!

Many times, people at high speed lose control, hit the divider, burst their tires and end up dead or injured.
When asked "why"?
The reason given is tire burst.

Because it seems better, than to say "I am an idiot who was driving much faster than my capability".

Now, there are genuine cases of tire bursts, but most of the cases you see reported, are actually "lost control cases".

I have burst a tire at high speed (90kmph).
Lot of noise happened.
And the safari wobbled a bit, started tracking to the left.

Its not that bad at 90kmph. However at 180kmph, you can lose control even without bursting a tire.

Hi , since you are going on the expressway, can you please check where is the first exit (while going to agra) ? Is it at Jewar Or at Tappal? Is it working?

Also, is there a lane joining in for the opposite lane (for people coming from Jewar/Tappal back to Noida) correspondingly?

Do let us know.

re: The Yamuna Expressway!

the first exit to agra is on NH 93, the road basically leading to rambagh. Its in very bad state, and takes around 1 hour on that road to reach the heritage areas.

The best part of the expressway was to me, reaching an average of 80km per hour, after driving at 80-90kmph throughout. Such little difference between the actual average driving speed, and the top speed that I drove at was a surprise- comes down to there being no trucks on this expressway.

I think, though, I was overtaken by everyone.

waise, all restaurants are open, on both sides of the highway. Its just that they tend to shut down pretty early - we left greater noida around 7.30-8 pm, and everything was shutting down on our side of the highway; they also shut down in the evening is there is a prolonged power cut.

After the BIC, the first exit was Jewar if I recall.
We took a utrn under the e-way and joined up on the other side.
I think it said KM18.
Getting off, you gotta pay 75, getting, 35.

By the by, I know my tyres are near end of life, but the surface is VERY VERY noisy!

The exit which we took was Bulandshehar one, Jewar one was 10 kms further ( as told by guard there )

My tyres were quite new, XM1+ and still there was alot of noise in the cabin, The surface is Very noisy.

re: The Yamuna Expressway!

Went to Agra Yesterday from Delhi by the YE. Superb Road Engineering, Excellent Spacing of Lanes and everything is just TOP of the line. Far superior to Autobahn's in Germany.

Tyre bursts are a ridiculous story and it should be left at that. Especially that of a BMW!

Anyway, there are restaurants ONLY after toll gates (3 on the way to Agra, if i remember).

Trucks and 2 Wheelers are allowed, however i did not see even ONE driving in the wrong lane ( other than the Leftmost ). 95% of the drivers were driving in lane and overtaking from the rightmost lane then shifting back to the centre.

Other than that, saw 2 stray dogs which almost got killed by me (and nearly killed me)! But all is well!

There are NO speed check's (boards are present) as i did not get penalized on the whole journey.

The beginning ie. up to 10-15km after BUDDH Circuit has BUMPS which can lead you to lose control if on high speed, however it gets smooth after that.

Excellent DRIVE, KUDOS to the engineers and constructors.

By the way there is still NO petrol pump until Agra, if you're going from Delhi and only ONE on the way back!

re: The Yamuna Expressway!

Heard a new one. Shivpl Yadav (brother of Mulayam) was charged the toll. He outran his escort and reached the toll alone, was not recognised, so was asked to pay. Then they tore a strip of the local admin, and later JP bosses apologised.

I only do not like the last bit. Well done toll boys!!

Basically the local toll booth administrators like manager supervisors etc might have lost their job.

Did a round trip of Agra on last Sunday. Left home at 12.15 in the afternoon from Dhaulakuan and reached agra at 2.45, left agra at 4.45 and reached home at 8. The surface is pretty noisy but that will reduce over period of time affer vehicles start using it regularly. We did the trip on a Yeti.

I finally made a trip on the yamuna expressway.

The first two exits after BIC exits (paddock n stands) while going towards Agra comes as

1. Jewar/Bulandshahar - just before Jewar toll this exit comes. A makeshift toll payment stall is made at the exits. Expect to wait at queue here since just one stall for payment is there. This exit is at Jewar, after leaving the expressway, the road on right goes to Jewar city, the one on left goes to Khurja Jn - Khurja - Bulandshahar.

2. Tappal/Khair/Aligarh
A few kms after crossing Jewar toll plaza, payment of 100 bucks, this exit comes as sign shows for Aligarh / Khair. Take this exit route for going to Tappal/ Jattari/ Aligarh/ Khair. Tappal town is to the right side after getting down the expressway. Jattari is on the left side.

Writing it down so that this helps other users planning to take this route.

re: The Yamuna Expressway!

Hi, just did the YE on November 17 on my way from Nainital to Gwalior. (Yes, I know this is the longer route, but wanted to avoid the awful roads around Bareilly and also wanted to drive on the YE). The road was pretty amazing. Didnt understand why 2/3 wheelers are allowed. The only good thing is that most of them stick to the left lane or the shoulder. The washroom at the first toll plaza was fairly dirty. Wife and daughters found theirs to be really bad. Hope Jaypee does something about this. But a really great road. Did the whole stretch in an hour and a half.

re: The Yamuna Expressway!

Passed through YE on day3 of my Bangalore - Srinagar trip.
Pretty low traffic.. smooth roads.. but people overtaking from the left.

The Toll booths are slow.. I wish they could be faster.

Post edited. Please go through our board rules (#11) again.
