re: Planning for Goa, where to stay?

I got this quote from LONGUINHOS BEACH RESORT. Is this resort better than Bambolim Beach Resort?

Rs 3200/- per night on double occupancy.(inclusive of taxes and breakfast)
Rs 3800/- per night for 2 adults + 1 child.(inclusive of taxes and breakfast)

Accommodation in AC deluxe rooms with sea-view. To confirm the booking You have to transfer only one night’s tariff for the 3 rooms i.e. Rs 10800/-

Best Regards

re: Planning for Goa, where to stay?

Ladies and gentlemen. Am looking for advice.

My brother and sister in law wish to stay in a good five star hotel in goa from 29 December to 05 January. It should be on the beach and they want to know what the best sort of deal they can get is.

I look forward to feedback.

The best one in Goa (IMO) is Goa Marriott Resort and Spa!! I have stayed there for over a week on an office trip and enjoyed it thoroughly!! It is right on the Miramar beach (not a very crowed beach) and there is a casino in the hotel itself!!

The service is awesome, staff are very inviting and courteous, food is simply out-of-the-world and amenities are too good to resist!!

A decent room there would cost you about 10K per night incl. of all taxes! Given the dates, it is better to book right away.

Other options are - Vivanta by Taj hotel in Panjim, another Taj (not ginger) I don't know where.

re: Planning for Goa, where to stay?

I have confirmed my holiday trip to Goa on 2nd Nov to 5th Nov, this Friday to Monday. Booked Spicejet and Ocean Palms Resort at Calangute area.
But now worried about the Storm "Nilam" as it may hit Goa on same day of our trip.

Taj Aguada! The best in North Goa.
Right on the beach. Heck, they've got a private beach of their own.
Those dates may fetch a very high premium though. As with any other hotel in Goa.

Other options are:
1. Goa Marriott (Miramar beach)
2. Taj Village (Candolim). Just after KF Villa.

In South Goa (if interested) you have:
1. The Leela
2. Alila Diwa
3. The Lalit
4. Park Hyatt
and many more.

Prices at all these places would more or less, be the same.
Check the websites for these hotels for all the deals.

We have stayed in almost all the so called 5 stars in Goa.The best in Goa by a mile is Park Hyatt in the South.North Goa hotels do not have beach access(which means you cannot walk into the beach as the beaches are rocky).So you cant sit by the beach etc,no private secluded sections.

South is the opposite of North.Secluded private spaces for every star hotel.If its south look no further than park hyatt.If its the north,then the Grand Hyatt is excellent.Taj is okayish old rooms,service good but way too many big groups so the staff is always over worked.

December like others have mentioned would be super expensive in the range of 18-25k a night for a room while in off season it costs about 6-7k a night per room

re: Planning for Goa, where to stay?

Posting this from the Accommodation thread, though everyone here seems to have a really big budget.

For budget stay options at Palolem beach.

A nice accommodation at Palolem Beach, Goa is Zappia Cove. Very nice garden.
An AC room cost Rs. 1100 and you can bargain.
The rooms are around 2 minutes off the beach.
There is limited parking in front of this place so please check that aspect first.

In addition, there are hut available, on the beach (well, about 30 seconds off the beach), and the price is around Rs. 800 (this one with mosquito net and attached toilet/ bathroom) to Rs. 2500 with AC (rates for foreigners which you can always bargain)

All information based on personal visits in October 2012
Those looking for budget hotels with swimming pool, South Goa does not offer many options. On the contrary, North Goa has many option and cheap too.

However, North Goa beaches are crowded, but that is a topic for another thread.

Petrol is Rs. 56.5 (approx.) and the roads are mostly good. So drive on!

Have all the shacks on Palolem beach opened up already?

There are plenty of huts/ rooms available off the beach (0-2 minutes walk from the beach). And there are plenty of foreigners too.

Some rooms are still under construction, but at the moment there are enough options.

Fort Aguada Beach resort doesn't have direct access to the beach anymore. You need to go via Taj Holiday Village and is quite a long walk. Anyway if one is looking at beachfront properties, its best to go to the south. All the so called north goa beach resorts are not really on a beach. The following have direct beach access.

-> Park Hyatt
-> Kenilworth Beach Resort
-> Leela
-> Taj Exotica
-> Radisson Blue (not 100% sure)
-> Zuri White Sands
-> Royal Orchid (its a 4 star not a 5 star but is still a good hotel)

Alila Diwa is quite far away from the beach - nearly a 1.5km drive. I'd not stay there for this reason. Out of these, I've been at Taj Exotica, Kenilworth, Zuri and Hyatt. Zuri has gone to the dogs of late and can be avoided. The rest are fine.

The best way to search is to just go to cleartrip and filter for 5 stars. Their prices are the lowest of the lot most of the time. Expect to pay 10-15k a night just for the room in dec/jan. Also its the worst time to visit goa.

Also from bangalore, the best option is to drive to goa. The roads are nice and fun. Plus cabs in goa are a rip off. One is better off self driving.

re: Planning for Goa, where to stay?

We are a group of 3 friends who will be biking from Bangalore to Goa on 10th Nov and will return on 13th/14th. What are the decent cheap accomodations in and around Calungute/Baga and ho and how much can we expect to pay per night?

You can try Quinta Da Graca. Stayed there in October. Highly recommended. Rate was 2200 per night including taxes and breakfast. Do check out the reviews in tripadvisor.
