re: Planning for Goa, where to stay?

On our recent trip in the first week of Sept we stayed at the Colonia Santa Maria. This is just a bit further down from the infamous Infantaria, take a left after the Subway outlet. We were amazed by the location of the hotel, you can just grab your towels & sunscreen & walk over to the beach!!! Amazing!!!
They charged rs.2500 per night (incl taxes), deluxe suite room, clean place, white crisp bedsheets, nice bathroom-although a bit small. Housekeeping was done daily, the food at the hotel itself is average, staff is courteous & helpful, peaceful sleep. The best part is when you step out on the balcony you can hear the waves crashing. Of the 3 nights we stayed there, I was at the beach every night with my drink & smokes. Just squat & enjoy the crisp wind & listen to the sea.
We will be visiting during the Diwali vacation, they've quoted rs.3600 for the same room. Overall, the experience was really nice. Highly recommended for families.
I remember the first day at the beach, we came back soaked & covered with sand, my wife asked me to pour water on them (wife & son) from the room before they could enter the room :o) it's very convenient for beach goers.

I'd found and saved this link from someone's travelogue here on TBHP [forgot who it was].

The Sand Pebble Holiday Home: Our Holiday Homes

Hope this helps.

That was from lucifer's travelogue.

The owner is currently out of the country and not responding to calls or emails. Fortunately he responded to an email and gave an alternate number: Mr Seby, Cell: 98221 55326

Their rates on the website are misleading. For instance Green Peace is Rs 1000 to 2000 in December, but when we called, he said it is Rs 3500 per day during the Xmas week.

I stayed at Green Peace Holiday Home last week for 4 nights, part of the above mentioned link "Sand Pebble Holiday Home".
Excellently maintained place. Do call up Seby and check with him. I paid INR 600 per room, it's an apartment with a bedroom, kitchen, etc.
The owner is out of country and Seby is the person who takes care of it.
You can mention my name to him, in fact i referred the same place to another friend who stayed for 2 days last weekend.

Normally Christmas week will always be more expensive. But you're right they should have mentioned it on their tariff page. However the rest of the year rates seem very affordable, probably a new place. I've not seen it but from their directions page it seems to be on one of the inner roads.
Seems nice and quiet though.

re: Planning for Goa, where to stay?

Santosh,Vikram & vnabhi: thank you pointing me to the right place. Been there and stayed at Green PEace holiday homes. Very good place for wht we pay. Seby is very friendly guy.

2nd day when we came to the room at 10PM we saw tht the room was not cleaned, we called up Seby and informed him. He had the room cleaned up within 20mins. Very nice & friendly guy. Place is absolute VFM with private parking.

Also, try out food at Fisherman's Cove; the food is very good and reasonably priced.

There's also a restaurant by name Moonstar at Anjuna Beach, mouth watering WOOD OVEN pizzas and very good prawns curry and rice. Again, very reasonably priced.

Cheers,
Rajesh
