We are a group of about 10 friends(all guys) planning to do a trip to Goa around the last week of July 2012.

We are looking for an accommodation which is not very expensive (off season anyways) and is like an independent property, something like a bungalow.

We would prefer something close to the beach (i dont know if asking for something on the beach and budget works)

Any suggestions basis first hand experience ??

We have a similar Prateek. Do let us know if you find something good.

What are your dates?

From october 1st the peak season rates apply all over Goa.You could try the Grand Hyatt at 9k a night, other places are the Heritage Wing at Lemon Tree Amarante which comes with a private pool and would be in your budget range. If you are lucky you would get the Taj Aguada in the 9k bracket.Country Inn by Carlson and Fortune Regina are also ok(but both attract huge crowds thanks to them being favourites with package tour guys)Resort Rio is also a lovely place.Bear in mind that October end would see large foreign crowds coming into Goa with the arrival of the chartered flights from Russia and the likes

.In the South, you could check out Radisson Blu,Mayfair,Park Hyatt.

Lemon tree amarante gets my vote. Reasons:
1- location is very good, everyother beach is about 20 minutez away
2- if you book through their website you get a great deal- pick up-drop off from airport, unlimited happy hour drinks at the pool sode bar.
3- the beach near lemon tree is quiet and peaceful.
However if you like a lot of water sprots or junk food you wont like it.
4- lovely staff and and the lemon smell you find all over is just fantastic.
Doesnt feel clinically professional like other hotels, has a sense of ease and fun.

Other places I considered but said no-
Taj aguada- their beach was filled with debris. The local I spoke to said its because of the design.

re: Planning for Goa, where to stay?

I was planning to drive to Hyderabad on Sep 29th but that trip is cancelled. Now I am thinking of driving to Goa. I have driven to Goa in 2008 and stayed in South Goa. Hence, thought of staying in North Goa this time. Could you please suggest decent accommodation for family? Since we have a 2 year old daughter, place with garden/lawn etc would be preferred. Budget 2 - 3 K per night.

Thanks in advance.

Check out coco-goa. Stayed there for almost a week. Very good rooms and fantastic room service. Only negative is that there's no restaurant in the hotel (its an apartment actually), hence you need to go to Baga for lunch/dinner (hotel is 3km from baga). Check out their site coco-goa.com . The only negative is that its a bit away from the main road, hence the area is very peaceful.

re: Planning for Goa, where to stay?

Have not gone through all 1 pages here.

But anyone planning Goa trip on midsized budget, can sure think of Santana Beach Reosrt.

Nice hotel with a short walk to beach, 2 swimming pools, good sized rooms, 2 restaurants of which1 is sea side. Very close to the beach and decenlty prices.

Have stayed there and has always been my favourite.

It ranks quite high on TripAdvisor as well.

re: Planning for Goa, where to stay?

Am planning a Goa trip this October 20th to 24th. Stay has been booked at "Presa De Goa". Going to cost around 13500 for 4 days/ 3 nights with Breakfast included. There were pretty good reviews on Tripadvisor, rated 4.5/5.
Looks like a small and cozy house converted to resort, so less crowd and a bit of privacy. Ill be going via the Blr-Hubli-Ankola-Karwar-Calangute route. Will let you know how it was..

My sister and hubby stayed at Alila Diwa in the 1st week of October, which is a five star. Some irritations and lapses in service, overall they were not satisfied.

Alila Diwa is fast gaining notoriety for hosting big huge fat Indian weddings and which in turn eats into privacy of non-marriage guests and service also begins to suffer. This is the same story in almost every resort and hotel in Goa.From October till May,it is a very good idea for people who plan to book themselves into big hotels and resorts in Goa to check with the hotel if there are any weddings or conferences being hosted in the property during your dates,if there are, then I suggest you change your dates, else you can bye bye to your holidays.
