Query: NICE Road - Bangalore

Not really a query. More like a rant.
After driving around 5 years and 45000km on my car, I drove for the first time on NICE road yesterday. Wasn't really a nice experience. Journey was from Mysore road to Hosur Road.
So many slow moving trucks on both lanes, impatient car drivers overtaking from shoulder, it was just an unpleasant journey. I'm not getting on to this road again anytime soon!
(oh! and the atrocious toll fee

To Add to list of woes of NICE Road.

1. Costliest Road in India
2. Worst toll collection with serpentine Q, no Fastag yet.
3. Substandard roads.
4. Unsafe road - https://www.deccanherald.com/city/be...es-804436.html

I was thinking is there any department responsible for NICE road in Govt, so that we can file a RTI and ask why there is no Fastag implemented ? There is no email or phone number for NICE except under-construction website

True that Shamanth, unfortunately it is a private road and don’t come inside the remits of the SH or the NH.

Unfortunately, that’s how the then Govt of Karnataka did the deal. And we all know what happened to the decade long dream of the Mysore express way.

So after lot of heckling with tweets to Khenny and politicians, looks like TOI has picked up my comment and NICE has responded. So ball in State Govt court which is delaying implementation.

Yes Shamanth. I did catch it on the papers too and had a small doubt if it was indeed you. Thanks for raising this.

The last two times I had used to exit at ecity has been a nightmare. Both were during the past 4 days. The trucks pile up across all the lanes. NICE had closed down two of the exit lanes. And they also suddenly decided to close one working lane and open up the previously closed lane. This led to chaos, increased wait times and people trying to cut in and finally makes you feel that the time you save in commute is robbed away by the not so nice tolls.

I've usually seen only 2 lanes open on exit, and movement used to be much faster. I passed NICE on Xmas day and exit at Tumkur Road, they are awfully slow nowadays just to scan that toll barcode

Just received an SMS from HDFC - Fastag now accepted at E City Toll plaza & NICE road Bangalore. Is Fastag finally enabled for NICE road then?

It was accepted on the BETL since some years now.
On the NICE road, the Fastag was not implemented as latest as yesterday evening and I passed through by paying cash. not sure something has changed today

Dont think so. I used NICE road twice today, and paid cash. I have an ICICI fastag. Fastag is one single system, and if HDFC's tag was acceptable then so would tags from other providers.

I got this same SMS that mentioned about FASTag being accepted at Electronic City Toll Plaza and NICE Road Bangalore. I had to drive to Bannerghatta road and then, I had to pull out the cash. The operator drew a blank when I checked about Fastag.

In my recent trip to Kerala I paid Rs.180 cash at NICE road as the toll operator said no FasTag yet. Also I don't remember seeing FasTag lanes too.

One good thing about NECE toll is they accept Re 10 coins. In most places in Karnataka, they refuse Re 10 coins as if it's fake coins. Never faced refusal in other parts of the country.

Cannot be true logically. Reason being, there is a standard rate fixed by NHAI for a particular distance on toll road.

Example: Nelamangala Toll to Tumkur toll covers a distance of 35 kms appx, and toll fee is 35 Rs. This is standard across Karnataka

However, to cover same distance, NICE ROAD toll fare is more than 100.

If NICE road has to come under NHAI Rates, it will be huge loss for Nice authorities
