With an early start from Udaipur, is it possible to make Sri Ganganagar in Punjab by late afternoon / early evening ?

You can assume that we will have a vehicle capable of cruising at 120-130 all day, road / traffic conditions permitting.

Cheers,

Going to be tough, but possible. I have done Amritsar-Sriganganagar-Pokhran in 1 day, which tantamounts to almost the same distance.

BTW, Sriganganagar is in RJ, on the border

Thanks again, hvkumar.

Would you be able to say if a decent hotel is available in Sri Ganganagar for a night halt ? If you know of one, could you please suggest ?

Cheers,

I have never stayed in Sriganganagar, no idea about hotels there. Unfortunately, RTDC also does not have any hotel there.

Yes even I saw in the news. Manali is flooded and water running over the road. Even tourists are stranded.

Only option: Drive to Leh and come back via Srinagar.

Traffic was disrupted between Rampur and Reckong Peo due to a landslide at Choling. Many link roads in the district were also damaged and closed for traffic.

No alternative routes. Hopefully, the rains will stabilise in PB/HP region. Roads should be open but expect minor disruptions and delays.

Tribune says:

"Dera Bassi: Residents of Jharmari and Saddopur villages of the area today blocked the Ambala-Chandigarh national highway and demanded proper disposal of rain water. Traffic jam caused chaos and continued for nearly an hour. Commuters faced a harrowing time. The residents said water logging was due to absence of proper drainage system. They stated that due to the improper handling of the situation, farmers and businessmen had to face a huge financial loss."

HVK, how about this?
Alternative route from Delhi to Manali:
Delhi, Meerut, Roorkee, Dehradun, Poanta Sahib, Nahan, Solan, Bilaspur, Mandi, Kullu, Manali.
More adventurous to do Solan, Shimla, Narkanda, Ani, Jalori Pass, Aut, Kullu, Manali.

The blockage is after Mandi, and then after Kullu.
I am not sure if both left bank and right bank are blocked.
If Mandi is blocked, then a very long windied route will be through Jalori Pass, Aut, Kullu Manali.
