Absolutely, the blockade is at Aut so the alternative route which anupmathur suggests may not help. Blockade was temporary on the right bank (i.e. NH21), and road is clear now. Apparently, the day before when NH21 was blocked, traffic was diverted onto Shoja - is there a left bank road to get back to NH21 beyond Aut, between Aut & Kulu or Mandi & Aut?

Mandi is not blocked.

...
The question of left bank & right bank only comes at Bhuntar.
The road is not blocked at Aut; it is blocked at Katrain/Raison, beyond Kullu, half way point to Manali.
The route I suggested will work only if the left bank (Naggar side) route is clear, which it was till yesterday.
The left bank usually does not get disrupted as it is at a much higher level than the Beas river almost throughout.

HVK, is this OK or are there further updates?

I agree, anupmathur, BoBolero told me that he had been diverted around Aut onto the Shoja side, but was bemused since AFAIK there is no road on the left bank before Bhuntar.
Day before, road was blocked at Aut also.
The road continuing from the Kulu bypass on the left bank is definitely higher and a good insurance against NH21 getting submerged at Raison/Katrain. It is also much more broader and straighter.

Rains have stopped in Manali region today after incessant rains for 2-3 days.

There is an old road from Banjar to Sainj to Dhara to Bajaura. Used to be much used before the hydro projects changed the entire topography!

Disruption on Highway in areas bordering Haryana and Punjab

Chandigarh-Ambala-Delhi highway closed to traffic

Incessant rain since Sunday forced the closure of the busy Chandigarh-Ambala-Delhi National Highway after a breach in the bundh on the seasonal Tangri rivulet at Jodhpur village near Handesra and overflowing of a seasonal rivulet flooded the major stretch near Jharmari barrier on Punjab-Haryana border in Lalru.

A 50 ft wide breach in the bundh made way for the gushing waters to flow in the open. Several villages in the area and the highway stretch was submerged under 3-4 feet water, trapping several vehicles passing through, which led to a major traffic jam, around 10 am.

The highway was immediately closed and vehicular traffic from Chandigarh towards Ambala and Delhi was diverted from Zirakpur towards Banur-Rajpura while that heading from the opposite direction was diverted from Ambala towards Rajpura.

Confirming the development, Mohali Deputy Commissioner Prabhjot Singh Mand told Newsline that they have tied up with his Ambala counterpart to avoid plying of vehicles on the highway till the water recedes. Till the filing of this report late in the evening, the highway was submerged and remained closed for vehicular traffic.

Traffic on Rohtang Pass is dislocated for the fourth day thanks to heavy landslides close to the Pass. The road opens and closes intermittently as road is cleared by BRO, but there is a huge waiting list of vehicles on both sides (Manali & Keylong) waiting to be cleared.

Chandigarh bypass road from Ambala side (NH1) to Kharar (NH21) via Banur appears to be damaged and light vehicles are being diverted through some village roads.

Bangalore-Calicut Road

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/1981358-post1378.html

Reported by sv1976 in the above thread:

Muthanga-Sulthan Bathery has some new potholes but not that bad. Effect of rains is clearly visible in Wayanad ghats and hairpins with some of them really tough to handle.

Lots of our friends have had trouble with the Rohtang Pass closure. BolBolero waited out 3 days for Rhtang to reopen, finally gave up, changed his plans and went off to Spiti Valley via Rampur.

No one seems to have replied!
My last update is that NH63 is excellent, and NH17 remains the same condition as before.
