Tiruvannamalai-Uttanagari-Krishnagiri NH66 is in bad shape with lots of potholes. It may be a better idea to go an extra 90 kms (but in the same time) from Tiruvannamalai to Vellore, join NH46 there and go to Krishnagiri.

If one can manage till Singarapettai, he can divert to Tirupathur and then to Bargur to join NH46 GQ. That is also better compared to driving to Krishnagiri all the way.

I travelled back from Pondicherry to Bangalore on Saturday and took the route through Kalpakka--Kancheepuram--GQ(NH46) -Vellore- Krishnagiri- Bangalore. The roads are in good condition and less hit on the car though it is ~ 100 kms more

Kodai cut off

Kodaikanal routes cut-off. As per news reports, post heavy rains in and around, both Palani and Dindigul route to Kodai has been cut-off. While Dindigul route maybe be fixed sooner due to higher traffic, not sure of Palani route.

The Hindu : Front Page : Kodaikanal cut off from plains

Amboli Ghat

The Amboli Ghat between Nippani/Sankeshwar & Sawantwadi, a key route for those travelling to Goa from Bombay/Goa - is closed on and off due to land slides. Therefore, please check present condition before you travel.

Re: Monsoons - Road Condition Update

Did not find any appropriate place, hence posting this here.
I intend to travel from Tirupati to Pune (with a night halt somewhere). One place I could think of staying overnight with family is Belgaum (though other recommendations are also welcome).

How is the following route's overall condition?
Tirumala, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh to Yerwada, Pune, Maharashtra - Google Maps

I don't mind a longer route if it has less traffic and the road is in good condition (scenic beauty is a bonus).

This is the wrong route to take because Gooty-Bellary is a terrible road.
Instead, come through Bangalore via Chittoor, Palmaner, Kolar which is as follows:

Tirumala, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh to Yerwada, Pune, Maharashtra - Google Maps

Or else try the alternative route as follows:
Tirupati-Pileru-Madanapalle-Kadiri-Ananthapur-Kurnool-Jadcherla-Raichur-HUngund-Bagalkot-Belgaum-Pune
Tirumala, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh to Yerwada, Pune, Maharashtra - Google Maps

I would prefer the rouyte via Bangalore.
Belagum would be an ideal place to stop over.

Re: Monsoons - Road Condition Update

Another Option is a combination of two.

Come via Pileru to Madanapalle and take the Chintamani/Vijayapura route to Devanahalli.
Then NH207 to Dobbaspet and latch on to NH4. All Bangalore bypass issues resolved.

I remember Parag suggesting this to many folks.

Tirumala, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh to Yerwada, Pune, Maharashtra - Google Maps

In general as HVK said, better to go via Bangalore.

I would also prefer the route via Bangalore if the road conditions are good. However, I am wondering if I have to face city traffic while at Bangalore.
I did not like route 2 (did not appeal to me when I looked on Google Maps, in terms of KM it is longer and I have never heard of most of the places along the route. )

I liked this one too. If road conditions are as good as route 1, then I would want to try and go on this one. I think I can avoid getting into Bangalore traffic with this one.

Chintamani-Devanahalli is about 50 km for which I dont the condition exactly. (@Addyhemmige may know about it better. I remember he took this road once)

Tirupati to Chintamani is very good 2L. (SH till Madanapalle and the NH205)

Devanahalli-Dobbaspet via Doddaballapur is through NH207 and is pretty decent 2L. Overall no issues.

Only problem is that on this stretch although commute would be fast, there are not many hotels for breaks, food etc.

Immediately after you get on to NH4 Dobbaspet, you have Kamat. But not much on the Tirupati route.

Re: Monsoons - Road Condition Update

Hey fellas, any update on the road conditions on the Moradabad-Tanda-Bazpur-Kaladhungi route? Planning a drive to UK over this weekend and would prefer this route if road conditions are even okay (not good/great). I hope the destruction done by the last year's rains has been undone to an extent.

One of our friends went on this route last week, and says road conditions are good.
