When my family wanted to take the train ride, we dropped them at Ooty station (for the Conoor shuttle), had fun chasing them - including dropping in and seeing them at the Lovedale rail station en route - and finally standing in the platform of Conoor station to receive them. We were staying in Conoor at that time, so the family got off the train and we went back to our place of stay.

Coming to the other query I am not sure which is the best transversal between NH7 and NH4. NH13 is in a bad state.

The best options:

1. Drive to Hospet, stay for the night.
2. Next day "some how" get to Shimoga (Either through NH13/Bhadra or through State Highways through Harihar).

3. Continue on NH13 all the way to Sringeri via Tirthahilli/Koppa.

Need to note that GM is not correct in showing location of Sringeri on NH13.

The best route from Hospet to Shimoga is via Harihar.

The Kulu region has seen heavy rainfall and roads have been damaged in some places, but in general the route is fine. Expect some bad roads in the climb up the ghats to Bilaspur and between Kulu and Manali.

Route is as follows:
Chandigarh-NH21-Kharar 15 kms-Rupnagar 12-Kiratpur 31-Swarghat 23-Bilaspur 40-Sundernagar 47-Mandi 23-Pandoh Dam 20-Aut 23-Kulu 30-Manali 40, totalling 304 kms, which is 8 hours of driving.

With some zestful driving, you can be in Sringeri the same day.
Shimoga is on the way on NH13, Chickmagalur means taking a slight detour, but you can be in Sringeri via Aldur and Balehonnur.

I thought that whole region was in serious trouble thanks to the recent UK rains, and I also read that the road to Kotdwara and Landsdowne were closed.

I am planning a trip at the end of October.
Earlier in the thread, it was mentioned that between Mumbai and Vapi it is very bad, but OK after Vapi.
Any roadworks currently in progress or planned?
When could they be completed by?

Ghodbunder to Vapi is all broken up,would take you around 3-3.5hours if you are driving this stretch in the dark.Was Heavily potholed.

After Vapi till AMD, road is excellent,expect slight delay at Narmada bridge at Ankleshwar.Dense traffic between Surat & AMD.Overall you should be able to do it in 8-9hrs.Theres a Mcdie at Vapi.

Kalyan-Malshej-Alephata-Sangamner-Loni-Shirdi is in a bad state.

The road to Ranikhet : Haldwani-Kathgodam-Bhowali-Ranikhet is motorable now.

The highways are NH24 from Moradabad upto the Rampur bypass and thence onto NH87 through Bilaspur-Rudrapur-Pantnagar-Haldwani-Kathgodam-Bhowali-Kainchidham to Ranikhet.

I got the green signal yesterday.

Hello all!

Any update on route from Hyderabad to Nagpur. Is it advisable to travel at night on this stretch?
We are embarking on Hyderabad - Lucknow - Nainital - Hyderabad trip this Friday. Any pointers would be very helpful!
