Hi guys, was noticing lag that was taking the fun out of gaming on XBox Live. Hence decided to upgrade my current AirTel broadband connection. After considerable thought, I opted for the '8 Mbps Combo 1299' scheme, i.e. 8 Mbps with a download limit of 4 GB & Rs.1299 per month.

hey guys need some help here - i have airtel 128kbps (699+taxes)unlimited. they used to double it during the night but don't do it anymore, and now there speeds are terrible - 10 to 12 KBps..my PC is on 24/7... so no more fast downloads from idesir or demonoid

What i like is that something goes wrong at times and the download speeds are like 70KBps for a few hours.

i'll be switching over to BSNL's 900 plan 256 kbps unlimited. any idea how it is? also, can i not pay this airtel bill? and use there modem with my BSNL connection? i am very pissed off with them and i have told them i am not gonna pay this month's bill and nor are they getting their modem back and i am going to use their wire as a clothes line!!

I am currently on Airtel Broadband 128kbps. I get download speeds of around 18-20 kbps. I pay a monthly rent of Rs 805/- which includes Rs 180/- worth of free calls. This is an unlimited data plan.

I wish to upgrade to a higher speed plan (preferably 512 kbps) but would like to keep the fixed monthly commitment below Rs 1000. Free calls dont attract me as landline is hardly used.

Airtel has scrapped my plan and introduced Rs 799 Unlimited plan with 256 kbps and no free calls.

However, I saw MTNL's 256 kbps UL plan for Rs 599.

So I am thinking which one to choose. Airtel network has had quite a few outages in the recent past and CC is pathetic. At the same time, MTNL is no good in CC either.

Suggestions please?

Nishant am using Rs 799 Unlimited plan with 256 kbps and no free calls for last 1.5 years. No problems with that and Airtel service is good as well (though in that period i could not connect just once and that too server was down).

Same here. No calls nothing. Just the 11xx monthly bill.

Very decent connection. Not lightning fast, but definitely VFM!

Whats the average download speed you get harry? On 128 kbps, I get 15-18 kbps during the day and 18-20 kbps at night? (maybe higher during night, but I am not awake to check!)

I too fall in the max. percentile category.
Im using BSNL Broadband, 750/- month + taxes extra.
Service is ok, but nothing great but I do have to pull up the over lethargic BSNL(Govt.) staff from time to time.

hathway

I have been using the 256kbps hathway connection in Bangalore. I don't know the exact money I pay every month but It is somewhere between 700-750 rupees.

I consider hathway to be better than Airtel, they have pulled up their socks and committed to better service for the customers.

used to pay rs. 1425 for Sify 256/512 plans. Sify service was decent. but the cable operator did the worst form of maintenance. worst experience ever.
