Let me explain.

We have the 949 plan plus a 50 buck dsl modem rental (UTstarcom). Umm, so total including tax could come to 1112.5 (so I think) - rest i will tell on dec1

Where i work is odd saturday working. And I download off my laptop. Am outta my house 8am -10pm almost. so despite that, I managed about 14 gigs till date, including sat/sundays

and yes, i have tata vdata card that has good ornamental value. useless it is - only downloads off single connections upto 10k/s - but open 3 tabs, and everthing crawls. atleast now that i use broadband fully

God how can you all pay so much for broadband ??

For Me :-

BSNL Rs 500/- home plan, constant speeds of 1.8 mbps or roughly 220kbps . Download a 700 mob movie in one hour. 2 to 8 am free usage- use it to download roughly 65 to 70 GB per month + 2.5 gb fro day use , makng my home into a wireless with my desktop as file server (after i upgrade the HDD to 1 TB) to handle all so many downloads ;-) !!
Not bad eh !!

I too am using BSNL 500 Home plan. Wanted the unlimited one but the cap of 256kbps was a put off as I am regularly getting really good speeds up 1mbps on this plan. Night time free download is a bliss

Hathway cable - 1k Monthly / Unlimited / 256 or 512 cant remember

The switch/router for the area is installed in my house so that might explain the reasonable speeds Iv achieved.

Downtime isnt frequent but they probably have a 10% downtime record.

Most irritating thing that the bloody accounts department always blocks our connection on the 27/28th of the month for non-payment regardless of the fact that they have received they payment an entire week before!

Hi guys, I've been using Airtel's 256 Kbps scheme, with a 1 GB download limit per month. Should cost me around Rs.600 only, i.e. if I stick to the 1 GB limit. However, my average bill, per month, is around Rs.1700.

With the launch of XBox Live in India, I'm hoping to use the service extensively for multi-player, online gaming. Can anybody advise me on a better scheme to choose ? Should I opt for speed, i.e. 512 Kbps, or unlimited downloads ?

More than the download speeds you should also check ping times and upload speeds. 256kbps should be fine though limited bandwidth isnt a good thing.

Reliance had a 300kbps connection with unlimited bandwidth at night for 600,

If I could leave my lappy at home, I can beat it - MTNL ROCKS!!

Now on an OT - suggestions for a portable DVD writer?

PS: This is supposedly a 256 kbps connection. tata indicom gives only what it promises - but MTNL gives all it can - heck if I don't download, that bandwidth goes waste, like a flight seat - me likes this funda of MTNL

i have hathway prepaid 6 months connection for 3k which has a bandwidth of 512Kbps, with unlimited d/l from 11PM to 9AM, and I have a 7GB d/l limit for the 6 months. Not bad, get constant d/l speeds >50KBps in torrents and 70-80KBps in regular downloads

Airtel 999 @ 256 kbps. Unlimited downloads. Speeds are fairly constant and 4-6 MB files are downloaded in about 5 minutes. Very happy with the speeds and unless offered a free upgrade to 512, will probably stick with this.

Cheers!
