Where do you look when you do those weights? A lot of "fitness trainers" incorrectly tell you to look in front or upwards when your neck should be in its neutral position. Another thing, skip these shoulder or back workouts one day every week and do light work on your neck instead to strengthen those muscles.

Any strenous activity like long driving, or anything demanding on the neck(looking in one direction for long) makes my neck pain and be uncomfortable. I take a very thin pillow while sleeping, and have no qualms of letting it go if it helps?
Your suggestion?
Will agree with Pranav regarding neck position. While lifting weights, your neck shouldn't feel "tight", like it would if you gritted your teeth too hard.
This is an all too common phenomenon, esp while working the shoulders, at the top end of the motion. Do check on your form and if necessary, improve it. I'm sure that'll help. Also, do stretches/cooldown movements post workout.

You should also perform some specific neck exercises as is already suggested.
If it persists, do consult a sports therapy specialist, just to make sure nothing's wrong

how new?

do you do exercises that force you to use contraction in upper vertebrae? e.g., a standing triceps extension with pulley will pull your shoulders up, and you will tend to use your weight to keep it down, that has given me temporary injuries earlier.

This hurts the upper backbone and neck.

I suggest rest upper body for a week or two and watch.

Can we have the mods now step in here, do a clean up to regular team bhp standards and maybe award infractions all around?

This is no different from the Safari - Scorpio war; if people can get infractions by the half dozen there, this is no better!

@1-Testo - curing AIDS with supplements? The vast majority here may be less informed about supplement research (I for one am clueless) , but that is a very heavy statement coming from anyone.

Thanks. The one you are referring to is called "Nutrition World" and there is another on called "Rainbow" about 200m before that shop. Both were closed today - took help from a friend .. he told me the same shop.

I've been working out for the past 5-6 years very sporadically, say a month or so then a 2 years break .

However, its only in the past 2 months that I have become regular and focused. Used Designer Whey about a year ago and am currently finishing a jar of ON Whey. First month and a half was a single scoop and am now using 2 scoops a day when I workout or 1 scoop otherwise.

I definitely recommend Whey Protein, without which one doesn't have the strength to work out. Atleast for guys like me where an hectic office schedule doesn't permit me an ideal diet.

I am 5'4" and 63 kgs - 2 months completed yesterday and there is a definite difference in my body structure.

Supplements do not cure AIDS, but patients with whey protein supplementation have shown improvement in their immune system. Research and studies are ongoing.

Any detailed whey article will touch up on whey protein research around cancer. Haven't found any article on whey for AIDS though.
Even wikipedia has it Whey protein - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
and so does this excellent article which i posted earlier Bodybuilding.com - Will Brink - The Whey It Is: The Truth About Whey Protein!
and heres one for whey and cancer Bodybuilding.com - Will Brink - Fighting Cancer With Whey!

Edit - the last link I mentioned, talks about whey for cancer, aids, cholestrol, bone growth and so much more!! All this is for whey protein concentrate and not isolate though. I am not sure if the benefits of concentrate also apply to isolate, which is what we all have in ON or other supplements.

Quite the other way around. Especially with ON.

Please bear in mind though, not all WPCs are the same. Just like good chicken and bad chicken, there are good Concentrates and Bad Concentrates. Personally, ON falls into the very very bad concentrates category.

I'm finally a bhpian! looking forward to my first infraction now. semicolonD!

quadra you may have missed my post on the last page which took eons to get moderator approval. check it out and see if you've still got issues. or rather sift through the last 50-odd posts in this thread and your (everybody's) queries on whey should get dispelled.

EDIT: I can finally edit my posts!

Forget ON, tell us about Designer Whey. Start with "tastes like..."

(if it doesn't end in a four letter word, its good!)

Though both say essentially the same thing regarding WPC, thought I'd post both links here.

My friend said they are more competitively priced than Nutrition World, will check and let you know.

Quite the contrary. It was quite a while back, but from what I remember it definitely tasted better than ON. And I have a feeling that it was more effective, but I could be mistaken as well.

Anyways, am slightly bored with ON, so for a variation will go for Designer if I can find it, else ON it is.

To early for that .. give me another month or two before I start posting about my practical experience with BB. Theoretical knowledge is what I majorly have as of now - plenty of that on this thread anyways
