Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

Ravi Shastri should not be spared irrespective of today's result. Dhoni never built a team like Ganguly, Virat followed Dhoni's steps and we do not have good players on bench.

Edit, Was Manjrekar behind the mic today?

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

I'm actually quite proud of the team this world cup. Getting to the finals in '03 was a lot of luck (don't remember '83, but going by all the coverage, that was a lot of luck too). '11 was on home ground. This is the first WC, IMHO, where our team looked like they were going to make it in a planned and prepared way. Sort of like Australia has been doing for so long.

Yeah that gaping hole in the middle order was always there. But we had an awesome top 3, lost Dhawan unfortunately. Had a real bowling attack. Fielded really well. So even if it ends here, sad about today, but overall quite a good feeling to see our team play this way in a WC away from home.

(And to lose to NZ is at least bittersweet, the nicest team in world cricket today, hope they go on to win this time.)

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

Kane Williamson got the better of Kohli today. Won the toss to start with, then batted grittily through the tough periods and was able to judge the surface and set the right pace to get to a reasonable score for this wicket.

I knew this was going to be a tough chase. Batting collapses happen in cricket, we can't overanalyse these things. They bowled in the right areas and we did suffer a bid of bad luck. When they were batting, there were a lot of plays and misses. If a few of those had kissed the edges we might have got through even with this collapse!

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

Jadeja is playing the way it is required now. Attacking & playing sensible at the same time. Dhoni is also performing his role. Cannot complain. Can these two take us home?

The body language of NZ is now changing.

Edit: Jadeja has scored an invaluable 50.

Whatever the result, Manjrekar would be under further fire on Twitter after this cameo by Jadeja.

After so many years, the whole family is in front of the TV praying for a win. A good feeling .

What is Dinesh Karthik doing? His position is wasted. They could have had an all rounder in his place!

He has also saved 41 runs before this match. Well played Jadeja, we loved your innings.

Edit, Guptill just got the best ever run out in an ODI. A selfish Dhoni lost probably his last match for India.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019

Last time NZ managed to win against the WI in a similar situation during the group stage. Hopefully they have run out of their quota of luck. Jadeja is doing what Brathwaite did to them in that game.

They had a chap named Vijay shankar. He was sent home. He could have saved some blushes for India.

I think it was bad luck for DK. He was trying to play an anchor role. Ball stuck in Neesham's hands rather than he catching it

He should have dived. The MSD of old would have dived.

It's been such a rollercoaster of a match. I cried after a long, long time.

This comes true, sad day for Indian cricket.
