It definitely had an ending but has potential for 2 more seasons. Feels like reading a good book with less pages.

Kaos on Netflix is a British Dark Comedy. It's a contemporary reimagining of the Greek gods - Zeus and his family along with contemporary themes such as xenophobia, capitalism, immigration, the disintegration of family, etc. So far, am 5 episodes in and enjoying it. It can get a bit slow in parts but otherwise interesting mostly because the story is offbeat. Trailer below

Bad Monkey
4/5
OTT : Apple TV+

What an absolute riveting find recommended by a friend. This is a hilarious action comedy set in the beautiful and sunny Florida. The settings reminded me of one of my favorite series (Dexter) which incidentally was also set in same state.

Vince Vaughn is the main character who is a suspended Detective and how he gets embroiled in some police business without being an actual policeman is the crux of the story. He plays this role as if it was written for him.

Special mention to the background narrator who steals the show to some extent.

I'm down 3 episodes and it's getting better and better. Do catch this show if you like some witty dialogues and a twisty fun tale.

Incidentally Shogun S1 is airing on Disney Hotstar in India- probably the first good content to air here after the HBO catalogue moved to JIO Cinema.

Plus 1 to that Vince Vaughn is an absolute hoot in Bad Monkey. Michele Monaghan is a delight after long and I have only good things to say about the whole series starting from the innovative use of starting credits. Some crazy scenes resonating with the selfie generation are so diabolical that it’s funny. Highly recommended.

Also, Dark Matter on AppleTV is an equally engaging watch. That this stars Jennifer Connelly is an added bonus. Terrific story and superb acting any all. Apple is coming up with some brilliant stories and it’s a treat to watch them.

TV Series : The Gentlemen
Genre : Comedy + Crime
My rating : 2/5

Guy Ritchie's series on Netflix is just about passable which i stopped watching after 3 episodes. Production values are good , but very convenient and lazy story writing in my opinion.

Nice. Glad to know you liked the series. It's fabulous. isn't it?

We both missed an important aspect that deserves a mention. It's the presence of Natalie Martinez (She is the best thing that happened after Salma Hayek. )

Yup. Apple TV+ content is pretty good though very limited. The other thing to note is when I watch it over the Apple TV 4K box, the quality of picture and sound is the best (blows other OTT platforms out of the water).

Slow Horses -Season 4
OTT : Apple TV+
5/5

This series has been rated as the best spy series on television. I have no doubts on that claim.

Season 4 starts off with a bang and has a shock right in the first episode from which I recovered soon. But, the story, location, dialogues is equally amazing as the previous 3 Seasons (rare feat as most series taper off when they progress to new seasons).

The old geezer is still in top form and is the ONLY reason you should not miss this show.

It's unfair and terribly wrong on the part of Apple TV+ to drop 1-episode every Wednesday. Now, I am twidling my thumbs the whole week and waiting for Wednesday.

Life is tough !!

I don’t know if its just me, but this series helped me focus on the smaller things, reflect back on moments of joy/sorrow and helped me realized that its ok to believe again.

Definitely going to go back and watch many times. Rating it a full 5/5.
I have completed two seasons of this show and I so happy I decided to watch it. I was watching a lot of crime/thrillers and stuff and wanted a change of mood. Jumped on this and it has been such a warm feeling of happiness and joy.

Shekhar Home - Hindi

The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)-a1.jpg

I loved this one. Typical detective style storyline with the Sherlock Holmes adaptation. Kay Kay was quite popular in this genre but had lost his touch but this one definitely brings him back.
Available on Jio Cinema. Highly recommended.
Rating - 4.5/5

IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack - Hindi

The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)-a2.jpg

Very well shot with good acting by all. Pretty good casting as well. Can feel the drag midway since all episodes are pretty lengthy.
Available on Netflix. Highly recommended.
Rating - 4.5/5

The Mystery Of Moksha Island - Telugu (Multiple languages available)

The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)-a3.jpg

When I talk highly of IC 814 casting, here's one with the exact opposite. Starts off like any typical "whodunnit" style then goes in a different direction. One series where everyone fails in their acting. Even though each episode is kept short at 25 mins, be ready to repeatedly press the skip button.
Available on Hotstar. Can be avoided.
Rating - 1/5

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Watched 'The Americans' on Hotstar. It took me several months to finish this as there were some 70+ episodes! Story about 2 Russian Agents (KGB) posing as an average American couple. First few seasons were good & then it slows down a bit in the middle 2 seasons while the last few episodes of the last season make a good comeback. Some top notch acting by the main characters, overall its a good show.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Started watching "The Old Man" on Disney Hotstar.

The storyline is about an ex-CIA agent living off grid, suddenly becoming a target, and how he navigates it.

Into the 4th Episode, found it quite gripping so far and I cannot wait to complete the rest of the episodes.
There are 2 seasons and I see on google search that it has been renewed for a 3rd.

Jeff Bridges is in the lead role, along with John Lithgow. Acting overall has been very good.

Worth a watch.

Mr McMahon (Netflix)

As a WWF fan, this series is proving to be pretty good. Lot of inside stories and shows just how far that industry has come to.

3 episodes in and it's been a good watch.

Watching stars of childhood TV like Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker etc talk about stuff was pretty good.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

*Shogun* - 4.5/5
Streaming on Disney+ HotStar

A Good Historical Drama Series - Good visuals, Story flow, Plot twists, Sound effects, Acting.

This is a Japanese language (Audio) TV show and i did liked it by understanding with Subtitles, Facial expressions, body language, Tones and undertones. It was interesting to hear the Japanese language dialogues just to know the tones and compliment the effect created along with the Background music.

The show is regarding fight between Fedual Lords of Japan around 1600AD to become the most powerful Military and Political leader called 'Shogun'.

Well deserved Emmy wins by this Series (though i do not have any idea regarding the other contenders).
