Cheers and will keep watching this on and off till I finish 12 seasons. |
I stopped watching The Walking Dead around season 10 and somehow finished the whole series (till season 12) on and off. I used to wait every week for episodes and leaks when the show was running, boy was it fun. Having said all that, it's still the best zombie TV series despite some very obvious shortcomings in the later seasons.
To answer your question, if I remember correctly, it's really good till season 7 with decent pacing. However, afterwards the pacing is slow and episodes feel very stretched out. The story and the intrigue still keeps you locked in though, so the pacing might tire you out, but the plot will keep you wanting to watch the next episode. When you finish all the seasons, you'll realise the glaring plot holes etc, but still feel satisfied enough with the realisation that no other series of the zombie genre comes close to The Walking Dead.
After finishing The Walking Dead, you can watch spinoff series (which came out after The Walking Dead ended) from the same studio with characters from the main cast other than Rick as the main lead.
TV series you can watch (not particular to any streaming platform): - The Walking Dead: The ones who live.
I haven't watched this one in full, but in a YouTube review and I feel it's decent enough to warrant a full watch.
- The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.
I haven't watched this, but I might in future as he's my favorite character after Rick.
- The Walking Dead: Dead City.
I haven't watched this and have no immediate plans to watch it either.
- The Last of Us (Season 1 finished & ongoing)
It's based on a very famous video game of the namesake^ and it takes a different view on the spread of the zombie virus. The casting is good and so is the plot.
- All of Us are Dead (Season 1 finished & ongoing)
It depends if you like Korean television and the antics in K-Dramas. It also takes a different approach to spread of the zombie virus (a bit dumb). It's a decent one time watch in my opinion.
Movies you can watch: - 28 Days Later & 28 Weeks later. 28 months later is in production I believe.
- Train to Busan (only this and not the sequel)
These are the best Zombie movies as of today (in no particular order) and should be the must watch movies for every fan of Zombie genre. In my search atleast, I have not found any other movie that would make this list.
Note - The resident evil franchise is an acquired taste, hence, they don't find a place on my list.I'm still 50-50 on them even after a decade.
There are 2 comedy movies on Zombie apocalypse as well which I like: - Shawn of the Dead.
It's actually a brilliant and hilarious movie.
- Zombieland 1 & 2.
The first installment is a very entertaining watch and the sequel is very average, but still decent enough to be watched once.
Zombie genre of Movie/TV Shows is something I love, so I hope that I was able to provide reasonable (and not at all lengthy ) information to you moving forward. |
