Whats with the Chinnaswamy stadium pitch. Slow pitch makes it so boring on a high scoring ground.

It's been an exciting tournament thus far.

Our limited over batting is in good hands it seems, the selectors now need to look beyond Raina & Dhawan... and Yuvi / Dhoni soon.

Oh, boy.

Bumrah is quite the revelation!

What I hate most about this is- Rohit will walk into the Indian team with an air of entitlement. And not worry about performing in the next 19 matches.

Wonder what Dhoni's future post CT is.

Steve Smith & Pune badly messed it up in the end. It was looking like a one-sided game but Mumbai bowlers fought back.

Star has acquired the IPL media rights, both TV and digital, for a period of five years (2018-2022), with a whopping global bid of INR 16,347.50 crores.

Re: The Cricket Thread

IPL player retention news: As an RCB fan, good to see that Virat and ABD have been retained by RCB. I also feel they should retain K L Rahul.

Quote:
The following are the names ESPNcricinfo understands the eight franchises have retained. The BCCI will reveal the list later in the day.

Royal Challengers Bangalore: Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Sarfaraz Khan (uncapped)

Chennai Super Kings: MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja

Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya

Delhi Daredevils: Shreyas Iyer, Chris Morris, Rishabh Pant

Kolkata Knight Riders: Sunil Narine, Andre Russell

Sunrisers Hyderabad: David Warner, Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Rajasthan Royals: Steven Smith

Kings XI Punjab: Axar Patel

If you go through the link, you will see that DD has made an interesting retention - at least financially. They have retained three players by paying them 22 cr while the deduction from salary cap is 33 crores.

The auction will be very interesting

re: The IPL Thread (Fantasy game league details on pg 238)

The timings for matches are revised to 5.30 & 7 PM. This means a clash on the double header days, lets see how that turns out.

Jofa Archer looks to be the next big thing in T-20 cricket and will, I am guessing, go for big bucks in the auction. The other hitters like D'ancy Short etc will be found out against spin.

I believe its yet to get approval of the IPL governing council. I wonder what the thinking behind this is, perhaps the summer heat?

Could be the dew factor. Another could be having a buffer (for the second match) in case of rain delays.

The primary reasons quoted are

- Lesser sponsorship for the afternoon matches, thereby broadcaster and franchise loss

- 2nd match finishing too late in the night

- Multiple channels now available for telecast in India, so clash does not matter. Overseas channels may have to pick and choose.

Wonderful start to the 11th IPL. From out of the Blue, yellow came ahead. Bravo Bravo!!
Mumbai continue their trend of not winning their 1st match.

Yeah, almost followed a script, didn't it ?

On a serious note, just the start that the tournament needed !

HotStar doesn't show IPL for free now; not even delayed stream. Good in a way, I won't be whiling away my time watching it
