There are more than one movies with the same title "Pretty Woman". Which year are we talking about?

I am talking about the Julia Roberts-Richard Gere one. It's was a 90's take on Audrey Hepburn's "My Fair Lady" which itself was based on George Bernard Shaw's book - Pygmalion.

13 (2010)

Great starcast - Jason Statham, 50 cent, Rourke. Different story. I was stunned by the game played. Though the result of game was predictable, but how it happened was interesting, nail biting. Even the climax is a bit different.

Overall a one time watch.

4/5

Techno, if you ever lived with a dog for it's full lifetime, you will understand that movie perfectly. The experiences we go through with this wonderful creature has been brought out quite beautifully. All kinds of feelings encompassed. Great movie, have seen it 5 times and i still have a good laugh in the beginning and cry at the end.

re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Dear EL, I had a Dog for almost 12 & half years & he played an important role in my formative years, He left us when I was in College. I have fought with my parents for him.

So yes I fully understand what you mean, its just that I somehow felt that the first half doesn't show the importance of Marley in the couples life as much as it does in the 2nd half(at least that's what I felt)

Anyways I watched My Super Ex-Girlfriend

The movie is about a guy dating a super girl (as in girl with super powers) only to discover that he loves someone else which does not go down too well with the super girl & she tries to wreck his life just like any ex would, only problem being that she is a super woman & so her ways of tormenting him are super too Then there is a villain who is trying to kill the super girl & who offers the hero a chance to get rid of her. What happens in end is somewhat predictable but I will keep it as it is for others

Overall a funny movie with some nice moments & good actors.

3/5

re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched couple of films recently

"Letters from IWO JIMA" starring Ken Wantabe and directed by Clint Eastwood

This movie depicts the Battle of the Island "IWO JIMA" from Japanese side. Its really a heart touching story of how the japanese fought this war with Americans with so few soldiers and equipment available.

Some of the fight scenes reminded me of Hindi Film "Border"

Great acting by Ken Wantabe and wonderful screenplay, photography and direction.

It's a must watch movie

4.5/5

Also watched " Tightrope" starring Clint Eastwood

A typical detective movie trying to solve a case of series of girls getting murdered and with only one thing in common. The detective (Clint E) knows all the girls.

So is the killer stalking those girls or Clint? Watch the movie to find out

Btw, in most movies Clint E never succumbs to woman. In this movie, he succumbs by the dozen

Decent time pass 80'sh thriller with some good looking 80'shly beautiful women

3/5

P.S: Next in line " Raging Bull" starring Robert De Niro. Is it really an excellent movie?

I think you should also watch ''Flags of our Fathers''.

This movie depicts the Battle for Iwo Jima from the American point of view.

This movie was released two months before "Letters from IWO JIMA"

Again a classic by Clint Eastwood and very well supported by the cast.

I found it OK, not special, though it's considered to be the best movie by Martin Scorcese & a cult classic.

I have seen 6 other movies by Scorcese & liked all of them more than Raging Bull in this order

The Departed
Shutter Island
Goodfellas
Taxi Driver
Casino
Cape Fear
Raging Bull.

YMMV

If not for the movie itself, this movie is worth watching just for the performance of Robert De Niro. Taxi Driver and Raging Bull are 2 of his best movies in terms of performance. I think this is based on a true story too.

Don't forget Joe Pesci in most of the Socrcese movies. In some movies, i liked him better than Robert.

Its a decent movie but may not the best of all the three.

I am keen to watch RDN's acting in this movie and like his facial expressions a lot

+1. Joe Pesci is an amazing actor. Saw his true potential in "My Cousin Vinny" and then "8 heads in a Duffel Bag" and another movie where you got the entire lot of cool actors in it including Michael Madsen, RDN etc. Not able to recall that movie's name

The Oxford Murders

Nice and gripping movie.
plot- The Oxford Murders (2008) - IMDb
At Oxford University, a professor and a grad student work together to try and stop a potential series of murders seemingly linked by mathematical symbols.
