re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched A BEAUTIFUL MIND Yesterday night.

I am blown by Russel Crowe's acting skills.

What a portrayal of his character.

The movie is gripping from start to end.

Rating = 10/10.

Acting is alright but the screenplay is not upto the mark.

re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched a coupla movies

"Raging Bull" starring RDN and Joe Pesci.

I loved this movie. Great acting by RDN and Joe Pesci. RDN shows the world that he can describe the word "Cranky" better than even wikipedia can describe. What a moody, grouchy and charismatic character he played !!!!

Excellent acting by RDN and Joe Pesci was just a wee bit behind him. Superb show from him too

However, the fight scenes were not too convincing. I reckon in that area " Rocky Series" still rule

4.5/5

"House of Wax" starring Elisha Cuthbert and Paris Hilton

A movie with regular storyline. Teenagers on way to a ball game stop enroute and get caught up in some nasty business.

EC is breathtakingly beautiful and PH is great at what she does best. That is looking HOT

But, i was pleasantly taken aback to see the movie to be quite interesting and as mentioned before i make it a point to watch horror movies with full drama at home ( all lights except spot lights off, HT in full volume etc) and it was a fun movie and certainly watchable once.

3/5

P.S: Next in Line " A Fish called Wanda" Anyone seen it?

Kind of cranky movie. Especially with that guy sniffing his own armpits.
Still to find out why it is rated so high.
Would recommend that you go for "Wag the Dog" instead.
Nice watch.

Good timepass. John Cleese & Kevin Klein are pretty good.
There is also another movie with the same 4 actors called Fierce Creatures, which is also good.

Seen this movie long back. Absolutely loved the story line and acting of RDN and DH.

Wish our hindi directors come up with such crazy storylines just for once

re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched Brokeback Mountain

to be honest I was very apprehensive of this movie as in I wasnt sure how they have handled the issue of homosexuality & I must say they have handled it very well.

The story is about two cowboys who meet up at a job of shepherds & where one night they discover(atleast one of them does) that there is more between them than it seemed. The men mix very well while on the job & once its over they continue their individual lives like nothing happened. Heath's character goes on & gets married to his Fiancee & later has 2 daughters. meanwhile jack's character too gets married.

After 4 years of their job the men meet up & discover that they still love each other. Heath insists that they should keep meeting like this instead of getting together as the society will not except it.

What follows is a journey of these men showing how they must live normal lives while they suffer within for not being able to live together. It spans to over 20 years of their lives.

The emotion part has been portrayed very well but there are a few aspects which have not been explained well & which keep you wondering. The performances are brilliant by the entire cast. Its a one time watch for sure.

Watched Pineapple Express and Trainspotting last night.

Pineapple Express was hilarious just loved the movie, if you like anything like Big Labowsky or Hang Over you would love this movie.

4.5/5

Trainspotting was really different movie, i had heard so much about it. But could not form any pinion on it none the less it was an interesting watch. Reminded me of 'Requiem for a dream'...
3.5/5

cheers

re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Saw TRON Legacy yesterday. First things first, the special effects are really good, probably the second best after Avatar... and the lightcycle scenes are amazzzzinnggg.... petrolhead heaven!

Sadly, everything else sucks. In a way, it reminds me of Iron Man 2. A few great scenes, but the rest is boring. Same here.

The plot has a lot of loopholes and makes no sense. The acting is uniformly poor, something I never expected from the Oscar Winning Jeff Bridges. And the dialogues are incomprehensible half the time, amking you wish there were subtitles.

In the end, this movie has a great initial concept, but is let down in its execution.
