Talking about Michael Caine, I recently watched Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. That is one hilarious movie. Both Steve Martin and Michael Caine have done an awesome job.

BTW, I liked The Prestige too. Christian Bale and Michael Caine at their best

Good one, but no. Laurel & Hardy belonged to a much older generation, before WW2.

Exactly! C3P0 and R2D2 were inspired by these two chaps.

I was watching this movie from my DVD collection yesterday and felt like popping a quiz.

Quiz sounds fun, am game Lot of interesting facts can be unveiled through them as well.

Let me pop up one - What was Akira Kurosawa's profession before he entered films?

Re: Top 2 movies for HDTV?

Could you guys suggest, say top 2 movies(rich in visual effects) to watch on HDTV. Got a big screen at home and would like to see the performance.

IIRC, he used to be a Painter before entering into film industry.

Did I get it right?

My personal picks would be any one of the LOTR trilogy. The Hero starring Jet Lee has some amazing cinematography. There are actually many watchable movies on HDTV, if you can tell us your fav genres, members can give more choices.

Watch Inception if you haven't watched it. It will be fun to watch it on a large screen.

Get Blu-rays of LOTR and Avatar. These movies in Hi-Def just bring life to any HDTV. Even Transformers looks good but I would suggest Transformers and Matrix for more for Audio treat than Video (not that video is bad by any means on these movies but audio is really something to show off your HT)

I got myself Casino bluray today. Nobody makes movies like Martin Scorsese and I like De Niro. My last week's pick was Source Code, got it after being recommended on this thread

re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched Seabiscuit twice in the last 2weeks on ZStudio, probably the the best movie I have seen so far on 4-legged creature. Superb acting by everyone, nice script based on a real story and excellent direction, so a must watch movie.
