re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

[quote=_raVan_;2570180]Watched some movies...

"c) Before Sunrise and Before Sunset: 4/5
Now these two movies have only 2 main actors and the entire movie is one long conversation. Many people would find it boring, but at the end of the movie, you connect with the characters. Its very warm and the chemistry between them is great! I loved Before Sunset more. One of the most sensible sequels ever."

Excellent rating _raVan_!

I saw the 'Before Sunset' first, that too, from the scene where Ethan Hawke finishes autographing his book and then looking up and seeing Julie Delpi. Their interaction, their ambling along the little back streets of Paris and their spending together all the while the chauffeur is waiting to take him to the airport. After web search, I came to know about the 'Before Sunset' prequel and had to wait for a long time to see it on the cable. Thereafter I have seen both several times. Tnx to a gift I now have the DVD too.

Wow! What audacity to make such non-box office movies and make an entry into movie making history! Both the leading characters had collaborated with the director in various capacities.

I join _raVan_ and recommend watching these warm movies.

Its a must watch for Tintin and even non-Tintin fans.

Thanks for the correction, I realized after submitting the post there were a few grammatical errors as well but, didnt want to edit as i think and write fast and hardly ever do a re-read.

As long the members understand my post, it doesnt really matter.

Aha! Now you're talking my kind of movies. Martyrs was very well directed and the end has a bit of a twist that can be interpreted in two ways. If you guys liked / disliked Martyrs then you should definitely watch / stay away from these:

1. Cannibal Holocaust
2. The Human Centipede
3. The Guinea Pig series
4. Imprint
5. Seven Days
6. Ichi the Killer
7. Audition

@Mobike: I know you dig supernatural horror. I watched a flick called 'Insidious' which is one of the few movies to impress me since 'The Grudge'. if you like '80's style horror, watch this movie called 'Trick 'R Treat'.

Thanks for that "disgusting movies" list. The only problem is when i watch such movies, i start questioning my own sanity and to some extent feel guilty of my preferences..lol. And, since i am quite keen to keep it as sane as its right now, will definetly sample that list provided its available in my sources to see if i am revolted or like it

I will definetly see "Insidious" and Trick R Treat. The latter is already in my queue

Super 8 was good. I watched the movie without reading any reviews what-so-ever. It helped, the first half was pretty thrilling. The second half was not predictable but not great either. It could have ended with a sense of awe, just my 2 cents.

Captain America is a decent one time movie. Like Green Lantern, its a pop corn movie but only slightly better.

Agreed. I watched it for one hour and lost interest. Sat through it only because I had watched it so far. No big loss if you skip.

Larry Crowne

The cast (Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts) is awesome. The story is simple, the acting is super. Basically a feel good movie about how a person overcomes recession problems he faces.

Its a good time pass. One time watch. Loved the scoots though.

3.5/5

Thanks Rom, somehow I missed your post. Like you, I had also watched Before Sunset first

Since you liked these movies, I would also recommend Notebook to you.

Same here Mobike008! There were also a couple of movies which I had seen (I dont remember their names) but stopped after that.

Amongst the disturbing ones which I have seen is Irreversible! Man, life has never been the same after that movie! It was so brutal that I had a new found respect for Monica Bellucci and her acting skills.
