+1 to this. Craig did do a good job to redefine bond and it will be interesting to see who will step in to fill his shoes.

I dont think the new generation would appreciate this Bond you are refering to, which is why I believe the next bond might be a very different charecter. Wont be surprised if the next bond ends up being a tech savvy metrosexual individual with a flair for the finer things.

Both of these charecters were near close to perfect bond villans.

Heath Ledger/Joker
Ledger's portray of joker is beyond comparision. Jack Nicholson's Joker is a close second in my list, followed by Keyser Soze/Kevin Spacey, Alonzo Harris/Denzel Washington, Sean Archer/John Travolta.

+1 for Bardem. Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie would make awesome bond villans.

Amen to that.

Coming back to the movie, the best parts for me were the chase sequences, DB5 and that beautiful V8 saloon - nothing can replace those classic lines. I think its a decent send off for Craig and worth a watch on the big screen.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

As an ardent fan of 007 since it's inception and having watched the Connery/Lazenby/Moore films umpteen times, my list of memorable Bond villains from that era would be:-

1) Donald "Red" Grant (Robert Shaw) in From Russia With Love
2) Ernst Stavro Blofeld (Donald Pleasance) in You Only Live Twice
3) Francisco Scaramanga (Christopher Lee) in The Man With The Golden Gun
4) Auric Goldfinger (Gert Frobe) in Goldfinger
5) Max Zorin (Christopher Walken) in A View To A Kill
6) Dr Kananga (Yaphet Kotto) in Live And Let Die
7) Ernst Stavro Blofeld (Telly Savalas) in On Your Majesty's Secret Service
8) General Orlov (Steven Berkoff) in Octopussy

Aides/Henchmen:-

1) Mr Wint (Bruce Glover) and Mr Kidd (Putter Smith) in Diamonds Are Forever
2) Fiona Volpe (Luciana Paluzzi) in Thunderball
3) Oddjob (Harold Sakata) in Goldfinger
4) Jaws (Richard Kiel) in The Spy Who Loved Me & Moonraker
5) Rosa Klebb (Lotte Lenya) in From Russia With Love
6) May Day (Grace Jones) in A View To A Kill
7) Gobinda (Kabir Bedi) in Octopussy
8) Tee Hee (Julius Harris) in Live And Let Die
9) Naomi (Caroline Munro) in The Spy Who Loved Me
10) Mishka (David Meyer) and Grishka (Tony Meyer) in Octopussy

Thanks a lot, watched it. Good one time watch.

These mircro drones (bird shaped) - did Uri copy from here?

Any other such good movies? Spy/thriller/drama...?

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched "Searching" on Netflix. A movie entirely filmed on computer screen/mobile phone screen is a story of a man's search for his missing daughter. Won't divulge more.

IMO an easy 4/5 film.

I loved the concept, is fast paced, ups and downs and lot of believable computer/software scenes. That is my major gripe against a lot of movies where filmmakers show complete non-sense. Not this one.

Besides, no sex scenes, mild violence and no F bombs either. One of the most brilliantly made movies I watched on Netflix in recent times.

Check our Syriana (2005), Good Kill (2014). And for a fun, dumb sci-fi: Stealth (2005).

Almost forgot, also check out the first season of Jack Ryan.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Thought I will mention this useful tool here.

https://www.justwatch.com

This website lets you know on which service you can watch the film/series.

For example : https://www.justwatch.com/in/movie/the-babadook
THis will show that you can watch Babadook (an excellent horror movie btw) on Prime in India. Then you have other filters too like "best price" or "free" or video quality.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Nobody - 2.5/5

It isn't available in India but I had been wanting to watch this for quite some time now. Been a fan of Better call Saul (liked it more than Breaking Bad!), I wanted to watch it for Bob Odenkirk.

The reviews of the movie weren't promising and true to them, I was disappointed too. Weak and transparent story but good acting by the cast. I would say it was a spoof of John Wick, and as a spoof, it is good one time watch.

That looks epic Between this and Black Adam, I am waiting for DC movies more than Marvel.

Use this website to check where any movie is available in India. In this case, it's available for rent on YouTube and Google movies.

There is another movie by the same name “Jobs” on Netflix. Basically both the movies are about the life and times of Steve Jobs. I have seen the one on Netflix, which is quite good, Micheal Fassbender plays Steve Jobs and brings a bit of intensity, which i don’t think is the case in the other version where Ashton Kutcher plays the lead role.

I haven’t really seen the other version, but many reviews have favoured the one with Micheal Fassbender, also it’s been directed by Danny Boyle, so surely you can catch the movie if you have a Netflix subscription going on.

Thank you ashis89. For some reason, Google reflects that the movie is available on Primevideo. But in actual, Primevideo does not play it. This website (Justwatch) seems to be accurate. Found it on Google movies as per the recommendation.

Thank you motorworks. I was not aware of the other one. I am going to share your recommendation with her.

A lot of times, Google shows listings from Netflix or Prime US but they're not available for streaming in India. I have been fooled too.

Halloween Kills

The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)-ddwvgxzec236f2bbe914d42924b5e3f7eacef57.jpg

Typical slasher movie made for the fans of the franchise. Nothing special or extraordinary. No scares (horror element), it's just a slash fest.
Friday the 13th still remains my favorite of any slasher movie franchise.

Rating - 3/5

PS - Watched on a 3rd party streaming service (Not a blacklisted one but officially not a legal one too).
