The Matrix 4: Resurrections (Teaser) trailer - goosebumps!

I wonder why Keanu's looks align more like John Wick than Neo. Ah well, hopefully we'll know in 2 days once the full trailer is released.

If you liked Zodiac and Spotlight, may I suggest Dark Waters (2019)? Very much like Zodiac and Spotlight, this movie is based on real life events. Mark Ruffalo plays an attorney who goes up against DuPont on behalf of a town which was polluted by the manufacturing giant. Very poignant portrayal by Ruffalo.

Network (1976)

Director: Sidney Lumet
Starring: William Holden, Faye Dunaway, Robert Duvall

A satirical take on a network news channel.

One of the best acting performance by an ensemble cast I have ever seen. Mind you it won 3 out 4 Academy awards in the acting category for that year. Superb storyline and direction.

Fans of the Matrix should definitely check out - The Thirteenth Floor (1999).
It is a movie about artificial consciousness where the artificial constructs eventually realize the nature of their reality.

You said it, somehow it does not feel very natural and too much like VFX-ish. The color theme too is not very Matrix-like. What I didn't really like is the direct copy of some legendary scenes, they could have created new scenes rather playing on nostalgia. This trailer atleast does not introduce us to some ground breaking VFX/action set-pieces/music.

Lets hope that this iteration too will continue to be intriguing to watch.

Wouldn't it be great if they had introduced Neo as living life of Keanu Reeves in Matrix world this time.

Unfortunately, I smell a T3.
Not that I didn't enjoy the antics of the TX against Arnie. But it wasn't a patch on T2. This seems to be on the same path.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

The studio should have gone with a neo "Neo" instead of using Keanu Reeves. Too many scenes are designed to invoke nostalgia and come across as forced. I am hoping against hope for a fresh story instead of a rehash. A prequel (remake of the Animatrix?) would have been better than resurrection.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Fast and Furious 9 - It was not entertaining, and the stunts look comical

Seems they are already out of ideas on how to run the franchise, I wonder how bad the last 2 installments of the franchise will be.

Overall it would rank close to Prometheus in terms of how not to treat your audience.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Black Widow : 6/10

I'd recommend avoid watching this movie. I watched this with my kids but it turned out a disappointment. There are some interesting moments but the storyline is poor and this is nowhere close to other Avenger movies that I've watched.

Taxi Driver : 8/10

This is about a lonely taxi driver in New York City. A Martin Scorcese movie with great performance by Robert De Niro. Rated highly by critics.

Happened to watch "OLD" by M Night Syamalan.

The premise was very exciting and was hoping for a gut wrenching climax only to be severely disappointed.

2/5

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched Changeling today. Based on a true story, this shows a serial killing incident and the ugly (corrupt) side of the LA police department. Very good screenplay and good acting by the cast. This is available on Netflix.

Rating- 4/5

This also reminded of another brilliant LAPD movie which I have watched multiple times - L.A. Confidential

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

I have a feeling that the 4th Matrix instalment will turn out to be underwhelming. As a huge fan of the original, I would be definitely giving it a watch. Hopefully there's enough to make it a worthy sequel to the first 3.

The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)-original.jpg

Better half's initiation into this madcap comedy last night. A complete laugh riot. My 10th or 11th time watching it.
