Anybody following the ongoing test match between India and Srilanka.

Set 307 to win, Srilanka was left in tatters by seamers at 10/3, then Bhajji got one and Lanka was 37/4. Then Kumble came on to bowl and served a buffet of leg-side half-volleys, short balles and more rubbish. And Karthik dropped an easy chance off Bhajji. Now they are 109/4 and playing very frequently.

Sad to say but Kumble had been disappointing this whole season. In Australia, his in-competence with ball was masked by his performance with bat and other off-field incidents. But here he is like a sore thumb, he has been a champion and bow out like one instead of burdening the team with himself.

And what to say about Karthik, his test career seems to be finished. IMO, Dravid should don the gloves for the rest of the match.

Well India won quite convincingly in end by 170 runs. Quite a good bowling effort by Ishant & Harbhajan today!

well lets hope our batsmen get some good runs in the next match. Dravid was unlucky this match with a controversial dismissal in the first innings and even the second innings dismissal being not really a good one. Looking forward to Sachin scoring more freely in the next match and finally getting to his world record in this series itself

Will Parthiv get a look in instead of Karthic; who has dissapointed big time with his keeping and batting.

Karthik's keeping has been really disappointing in this test match. I hope it's just a bunch of off days that he's having because otherwise, he really has no hope of keeping his place in the team.

pathetic is the right word for it. Dropping vital catches will tell on one's career.

When Murali bowls on leg stump: If the length is full, he will play inside out shot and play on offside. If the length is half, he will play it on onside.
When Vaas bowls wide off stump, he will smash the ball on offside. Either case, he will make runs.
Proof: He played like that in the just concluded test.

About Ponting: In Sri Lanka, he will make single digits scores. In Australia, he will score few centuries.

Just would like to hear from guys here how would a ponting or Shewag would approach such a scene

Certainly hope so. Because, from the total of nearly 600 runs scored by India in the last test match, only 217 have come from batsmen other than the openers. Fortunately or Unfortunately, the big four cannot be touched for the moment. Might be worth giving Parthiv Patel a game.

Gotta take back my words i thought we would lose this match also.
Awesome comeback. I hope next match Dada & Sachin score . SL is relying
a lot of Mahela & Sangakkara. Their batting does look quite weak. Bhajji proved that Singh is King !

Few Rants...

Sehwag v Laxman:
Sehwag's trend-defying 201* is as good as Laxman's 281 at Kolkatta. Commentators feel Laxman had reached his peak with that knock. But Sehwag has potential to achieve greater things. Hence the commentators are not going gaga over Sehwag's knock.

Sehwag v Sachin:
Sachin might be the batsman with greatest technique, but time and again he has proved that he is yet another card in the deck - if rest fall, he follows. Sehwag has shown that he can stand tall against thunderstorm and see the ship through to safety.

Ganguly & Laxman:
Due to their inability to score runs, Ganguly & Laxman have once again come under selector's axe. Will they get chopped? They have 2 more innings though to prove themselves.
  • Sourav Ganguly is without a fifty in his last eight innings away from home -- his highest being 23 against Sri Lanka at Colombo, SSC in the first Test of the present series.
  • Sourav Ganguly has made 43 runs at an average of 10.75 in four innings of the present series.
  • Ganguly is without a fifty in his last 9 innings against Sri Lanka.
  • Ganguly's batting average this year has dropped below 30 with his Galle Test performance -- 406 (average 29.00) in 15 innings (8 Tests), including four fifties.

Virat Kohli makes it to the team for the SriLanka one day matches and Champions trophy - Yusuf Pathan is left out.

I smell something fishy here !

Kohli is still not ready. He lacks a good temperament & his attitude is suspect

One reason why India lost the Asia cup was his failure at critical junctures.
Yusuf Pathan looked lost in the field without Shane Warne.

Virat Kohli is a very capable batsman.

Something very very fishy Kohli has just played under-19 in which he was only ok not gr8, In IPL he was a big failure. Didn't do anything entire tournament. Now Yusuf pathan was a star in IPL, didnt performed in Asia Cup which was his first international tournament.
Now my Q is when did these people performed last -
Dinesh Karthik,Ganguly,Dravid,Robin Utthapa, Rohit Sharma,Munaf Patel, Can anyone rem? and still they stay in Test or One day team. What do we call this?
Even Suresh raina after been given so many opportunities scored few runs that to against bangladesh, Irfan pathan was pathetic in Asia cup and Bangaladesh series n he is still in! All Politics!

Virat Kohli just performed well in Australia in the Emerging Players Tournament . But i must say Yusuf Pathan is more useful than Kohli thanks to Yusuf s bowling and more attacking batting. Irfan does look out of form here he s getting hammered . Where India lost series in Pak & Bangladesh was giving too many runs after powerplay.
