Re: The Cricket Thread

I guess all other teams will be lining up to tour India now, and improve their away performance records.

Re: The Cricket Thread

What can Dhoni do when our batsmen and bowlers can lend such support ? Its such a sad state. Team is in disarray. I think they should make captaincy a musical chair, sometime Gambhir, then Sehwag, then Yuvraj, then back to Dhoni. That way they all are happy.

Re: The Cricket Thread

In all this debacles, why is no one talking about our coach ? The entire blame game is being played around Dhoni. Isn't the coach equally responsible for success/failures ?

Re: The Cricket Thread

Sachin should be blamed for all these problems. How can he be so irresponsible and play only for records? Oh wait, he has retired and he can no longer be blamed for Indian team's poor performance. Need to find another one to put on all the blames. Dhoni probably is the next best candidate for that.

Re: The Cricket Thread

You know, I don't mind India losing. It's part of the game. Even if a team is going through a bad patch. A string of defeats will hurt.

But the manner in which India loses is something unfathomable. There seems to be no fight at all! It's like some formality that they want to get over with.

Look at Bangladesh. The team loses to stronger teams more often than not. but they will never give up. They fight till the very end.

It is seriously embarrassing.

Well, apparently our players Football skills have improved in his tenure as coach!
On a serious note, he will be sacked sooner rather than later i hope.

You know your team is in trouble when musical chairs are being played between Rohit Sharma & Ravindra Jadeja for a place in the 11.

Atleast 1 player should try to bat through the innings, something which Virat Kohli has done in the past 1 year but he has been off-colour in the past few weeks.
The more i see that Virat Kohli advertisement the more i feel he is distracted by Tamanna!

Re: The Cricket Thread

Finally, we get to the coach. Coach has always been the root of India's problems. They should fire him. Coaches have been a tradition of skeet shooting.

No coach in the world can stop the slide given the way we are batting. Except Kohli, the rest of our batters are useless.
We have forced our best batman to retire retaining the likes of Sheewaaag, Rainman and Dhonut. This is exactly what we get in return.

We lack quality and skill. We should have found some skillful batsmen to replace the quality of our greats before forcing them to retire. But now we have a team filled with flat track bullies who breezed in to the team with some useless IPL /domestic performances.. With quality bowling and a reasonably good pitch they will be humiliated.

We have nothing more to lose now. Selectors should think differently and start looking for talents who rely on skill and timing rather than just the muscle power

Why not look at Unmukt Chand. He can be fast tracked into the national side. He is a better bet than our old unfit horses (Sheewaag, Yuvraj) and the new ponies (Rainman, Jadeja).

Agree with you. Unmukt chand and also Rahane looks technically sound and pleasing to eyes.

-100 . Unmukt needs to be groomed more before he is exposed to National Side. I think he should be regular to India A tours to SA, Australia etc. Kohli was called the next Sachin and now Unmukht is already called the next Kohli

Kohli has performed brilliantly in most part of 2012. But last few matches he has been quite ordinary and got out to lose shots . Kohli s form to an extent is also an worry because he has been backbone of our batting for most matches last year.

Dhoni had mentioned before the match they need an all rounder who can bowl in the middle overs and Voila he chose Jadeja as an*genuine all rounder*.

IMHO , Fletcher should be dropped first. Then Rohit Sharma , Jadeja , Sehwag , Gambir . Yuvi seems good only for T20. We might have to look at likes of Rahane, Pujara and Tiwary for ODI's. Irfan Pathan also can be given a nod as he seems to be a decent so called *all rounder*. Umesh Yadav & Varun Aaron look quite promising in the bowling department.

+1. Our players simply don't seem interested to perform. Sehwag & Gambhir must be dropped. How long can they be accommodated in the team based on the past performances? Yesterday's game was India's to lose.

The BCCI is to be equally blamed. The financial clout that they enjoy will do them no good. IMHO, budding players like Rahane, Unmukth Chand, Pujara must not be allowed to play IPL. They must be groomed for test cricket. Another interesting point is that every other country is gaining from IPL mostly with things like batting conditions etc but India seems to be only going downhill.
