Are these points over and above the cashback for fuel for the HDFC card? Sorry if this is explained, but am a bit confused. I have the SCB card and it gives a cashback of 5% (including the surcharge waiver) but I don't think it gives any additional points.

The cashback i get is the fuel surcharge waver which gets credited immediately however i get some fraction of a deduction on this due to GST etc. The points is the 5% cashback that i get additionally which can be redeemed only after crossing 2500 points threshold.

@Agambhandari - I guess this limit for upto Rs 150 is new as when i signed up for the card there wasn't any limit i remember.

IndusInd Bank Duo Card

In a move that could significantly lighten our wallets (pun fully intended), IndusInd Bank has brought out an integrated Credit cum Debit Card. It houses two EMV chips and Magnetic strips - one set each for the credit and debit functionalities.

Could be a big problem if one is not careful. A long time back, the company I worked for then had salary accounts with HSBC (with a pre-approved basic credit card), so all employees had both credit and debit cards from them. The two cards were visually very similar with only the Visa/Visa Electron logo to distinguish them (apart from the number). Many people also chose to keep the same ATM pin for both cards, so there were several instances where they used the wrong card to withdraw money and got hit by the charges levied on ATM withdrawals by credit card.

In this case the corresponding situation would be "I pushed the card in the wrong end first". :-)

I have Sbi credit card, How to stop some services auto debiting from my credit card "without affecting additional factor of authentication mandated by rbi"?
Like netflix monthly charging Rs 650 without any otp, i know that RBI have removed "additional factor of authentication" for transaction under 2000. But royal sundaram is auto debiting Rs 4290/- without any OTP, how come? Any solution to disable?

This maybe due to a Standing Instruction given by you for this transaction.

I have been using this for some time now and yes, there is a 10% flat discount on purchases from Futuregroup stores.
Note: The credit limit is very limited, precisely based on one's monthly salary

Has anyone applied for the Amazon Pay ICICI credit card?

Re: The Credit Card Thread

I must say I have used StanChart cards for over a decade linked to my account. Somehow I think I received a message that they have enhanced my Limit to 20L from 10L, so I used about 12 in SriLanka. There were hiccups but eventually the transactions went through. On my return I found I have crossed the limit. So there was a 'excess' charge. When I checked with the bank, they denied any such offer. However, my 'bacon' was saved. Of course I could not locate the note enhancing the limit to 20L.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

I recently took a decision on impulse to apply for an RBL / Bajaj Finserv supercard as the benefits looked good on paper. Usually I refrain from taking anything without some bit of research.

Recently they had a offer ongoing during the festive season where we had to spend a lakh to get an Amazon echo dot 3rd gen (worth 4999 rs). I didn't realize that they took all of my spends across 2 months as a cumulative total and considered it for the offer. Got the coupon code promptly delivered as promised and ordered the device from Amazon today.

It was quite a surprise as in many years of using a credit card from a different bank, I could just manage to buy an underwear worth 250 rs from the accumulated reward points

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Is anyone using CRED app to pay their credit card bills? I downloaded it out of curiosity as it is founded by FreeCharge founder.
Clean UI and ease of paying all your credit card bills in 1 stop.
It also gives you your Experian score and if you are above 750, you are able to join.

I read about it in Mint last week and found it very interesting. The article said the app is launching first week of December so didn't try at that time. Will try now.

Because of you and because of your post, I just casually downloaded the Cred App.
I must say within 1.5 minutes my membership went through. It is absolutely super quick in detecting your details and the UI/ UX as you said is very simple and plain. Ideal for a lay person.
I am planning to test and use this app from this month onwards.
Their integration with RBI/ CIBIL etc must really be very good.
I am just hoping that their Data Security Standards are also good.

One of the 'features' of the app is that it shows you 'smart' credit card statements in the app. The way it does is by scanning through your email inbox. However good their data security standards is, it wouldn't be a smart thing on our part to let a third party access to email inbox.

So fundamentally what is the problem this app is solving?
