Re: Take a look at this number plate!!

Saddening to see 8055 and 6055 written as "BOSS" and "bOSS" respectively. Have never seen any 8055 or 6055 in number format

Happens to be my friend's ex-bike. Can't say what the present owner has done though.

May these souls long long live. There are two "BOSS"es in my office. One Linea and one enfield. Both mentioned as "BOSS"

The BOSS is an advocate too.
Part time, perhaps, as most of his time he must be BOSSing around.

The plate shows the letter code "DC" which is NOT a diplomatic plate code. Diplomatic plates have either:
  • CD, standing for Corps Diplomatique (i.e. Diplomatic Corps in French), or
  • CC, which stands for Consular Corps

And if that weren't a give away, the "Human Rights Public Relations Officer" should tip us off - that sounds like a typical fellow-countryman putting a pompous title on his license plate.

And, you're right, there's no need of a state code like TN for a diplomat's car, they only need a numeric country code before the CD/CC designator.

EDIT:
In addition to the above, it appears that UN is also a valid designator, alongside CD/CC.

Got to understand from a colleague who hails from Jaipur that Rajasthan had this unique numbering system. Where other states used only letters after the RTO number, RJ RTOs used a number as well (the "12M" in your example). However, they've changed the system of late and now it's aligned with the common SS-rr-(C)CC-nnnn where SS will be the state code (JK, DL, KL, RJ, WB etc), rr is the RTO code which is a number, (C)CC is a set of letters, which some states have rules for assigning to different classes of vehicles (KA has all two-wheelers registered under E, H, J, etc, private LMVs under M, N, P, Z etc, DL has SXX for two-wheelers, CXX for private LMVs etc), and nnnn is a number, running up to 9999.

Re: Take a look at this number plate!!

A Whatsup forwarded message:

Please read the number plate as : TN 02 AE 1639 [written in Kannada]

Cauvery+water+sharing followers can understand this transformation.

Well, that CLA is having fake Number plate , looks like that chap hasn't registered it and instead is using a number plate registered with different car. A quick search resulted in that number being registered way back in 2003. Have seen many examples like this on our roads. Someone should punish this guy for not paying tax.

On a different note, that Pajero Sport is correctly registered.

Re: Take a look at this number plate!!

This is really taking it to the next level.
The number should read GJ18 BF 8881, instead the guy has a number plate that reads GJBF 188881

Not to mention that based on the Reg Number Series - the will need to have the HSRP number
