Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Its really sad to see the road widening project. How are they going to manage the 3rd lane going further near the bridge and beyond it? What about the other side?

They will leave the bridge as it is, creating classic funnel traffic jam on the highway.

One a serious note, I don't know about the bridge, but at places, they are cutting the hill and creating concrete structure on valley like areas to expand the road. So let's hope they will do something about the bridge too.

^^Its only a question of wait and watch. Hopefully the authorities will get some sense this time around.

Another cabbie accident, albiet a minor one. A cabbie rear ended a biker just ahead of Tata Johnson today morning. Though the biker fell down, the damage wasnt much. The cabbie did stop to help the biker, but caused a jam by stopping his cab in the middle of the road.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Yesterday I took the right-turn-under-the-bridge route while going home at 8.30pm. And they had decided to be inflexible about the timings and found it closed. So take it only when you leave before 8 pm.

Whats the way out in that situation? Take a left till Ginger hotel underpass, and take a Uturn to join the bypass?

Yup thats the way. It might read stupid, but i used to take that route regularly earlier instead of Mezza 9 or Orange Route. This was less stressful and roads are good.

On Mezza 9 i was fed up of people going from the wrong side and then trying to merge in to the correct lane when they see approaching vehicles. Orange route was not roadworthy for Vista

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Yesterday evening took Orange route, a company bus MH14AH 7678 happily put emergency lights and drove like a two wheeler, causing utter chaos, that too at 6pm.
If that bus belongs to any tbhpian's company, kindly report.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Rahul, its really difficult (for us) to track the bus with its number. Do you know who the vendor was? Eg: SRS, Tarawade, MP Group etc. That would make it easier to track the company, this vendor works for.

Will keep an eye on that part from today. Though it was an orange-brown colored mini-bus, quite different than yellow/white ones.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Another chain reaction of rear endings in HJW.

This one happened just before Wipro Ph2. Around 5 cars were involved. From initial looks, it didnt seem to be that bad, apart from bent/scratched bumpers and irritated drivers.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

2 consecutive days of police action on the wrong siders. Huge logjam otherwise even on a Thursday and Friday.
Whoever said that the orange route was completely paved was kidding. Huge potholes remain for the first 20% of route.

Today wrong side was made right side by creating reversible lane using barricades. I am not sure if this was the reason why today traffic was lighter.

Even if they create 5 lanes, unless they clear the Shivaji chowk bottleneck, there is not going to be significant improvement in traffic flow. They have demolished shops near Shivaji chowk to widen the road nearly year back. But still there is not tar surfacing of this widened road. So finally only 2 vehicles can pass at a time at this spot.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Finally the cops have tried what should be the correct way of commuting in HJW.
One lane of the opposite direction has been made open, for people to get into HJW.

However, that barely helps the chaos at the main chowk. That one way, should be extended till Mezza9. For traffic getting out of HJW, the left at Mezza should be used. That, would reduce the commuting burden to a great extent.

Thats the problem ( the bottlenecks ) , Making the road from Wakad bridge to Mezza 9 a one way ,for sure would see lot of local reluctance . As it seems ,the civic authorities are having a hard time to find a solution to the HJW traffic chaos and hence are trying all possible solutions .

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

There is a broken down yellow truck in the right lane just after crossing the baner over bridge towards wakad on bypass NH4.
Expect some minor jams in that section.
