I told him clearly to call me only when the bookings for the 2012 model open up.

As for the stock clearance, its just the word I heard from the showroom manager. Credibility of the same is debatable. But in his defense, he was very clear about the bookings being open for the older model then, infact he asked me to book it asap if I was interested.

Called up the Probiking manager in Dehradun to inquire about the 650 since April is already here.

He said that he has received official communication from the company that the bookings for the 2012 model shall open in August 2012. No news on the price and colours front though.

Honestly, this waiting game is getting irritating now. :(

now again another three months that would make it more than a year after bookings closed , triumphs will be entering the market around the same time right? more sales for hyosung till then.

Now this is such unfortunate news, whatever the reason, 1 year plus is a significant time

Hope you have wrong info, and 650 is available in april as rumoured.

I was in Pune on the weekend and made it a point to visit their flagship KTM/Probiking store since there was not much of a detail provided by the Ahmedabad store. The sales guy said bookings are to re-start early May or better end of April.

I spoke to the dealer in Bangalore. They claim that they will start taking bookings from the end of the month. No clear data on pricing but confirmed the color. They had earlier claimed that it would be released in two colors - the standard green and black. Apparently it will only be released only in green

Slightly OT, but does anyone know of any other launches from the Kawasaki stable? There were some news earlier of a Z750 and a ZX10R coming in this year.

Apparently no information from the dealer at Trivandrum. Also had placed a query with bajaj. They replied with 'cannot comment on the booking of 650r' as usual

As per the bangalore dealer, is it the 2012 model that is going to be launched?

Yeh i really wish we had a monthly sales chart for superbikes like we've for cars, atleast for the one's that are official sold in India.

My friend who has booked one from Calcutta says that dealer is committing the 650R's delivery in June, but maintains that till he doesn't see it, he isn't giving it a thought.

Any of you have an idea as to what is taking them so long to launch 2012 editions? Beyond me.

Just called up bangalore dealer now. He said booking will start by first week of June. When asked about the delivery time, he was not sure as there are customers who had booked the 2011 model and never got their bikes.
He also ensured that new bookings will be for the 2012 model. No idea about the possible colors except for green. A price of Rs.5.40lkh was hinted, hope its not ex-showroom.

Hinted On-Road Price: Rs. 5.6 Lakhs
Delivery Time: Between 30-60 Days
Booking Amount: Between 40-60k.

Confirmed with Probiking in Dehradun.

Hinted on road price: Slightly above 5 lacs. (Taxes are much lower here)
Delivery time: Approximately 30 days, deliveries starting August 2012
Booking amount: 50 k

Colour options: Green, ORANGE. That orange is news to me. Maybe he meant the passion red they have abroad. I'll see if I can find some pics & post them here.

@plimsollmark: Dunno about the Z750 / ZX10R but they do have the Versys & Z1000 in Thailand. So if anything's coming, I'd expect that those would be the ones to head here...

In August 2012, they will start delivering '12 models. That is 5 months to go before 2013. They will sell few '12 bikes and ask customers to wait (again) for 2013 model?

Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, cash on this opportunity. CBF's, FZ-6/FJR's and SV's would spice things up for sure and provide potential customers with a wider option. Hyosung GT being the only competitor.

More choices would mean better deal and customer can really pick what they wish w/o end-less wait.
