True doc. But, aren't ARAI quoting performance figures at the wheel? And, I think all marketing lingo has the power quoted at crank? Though this isnt clarified by anyone.

I strongly feel there has been a goof up by Triumph in their literature. Either ARAI should have mentioned same performance figures as Triumph marketing literature (technically this should be the one) or vice-versa

ARAI is a national regulatory authority Avi. I deal with them (similar industry-specific national regulatory authorities) in my own area almost daily. They are not beholden to write anything per a manufacturer's marketing or technical literature. Its exactly the other way around.

In fact if you as a manufacturer write anything different from what is cleared by the national regulatory authority, you can and will lose your licence and will be liable to prosecution and damages. From the central and state/regional/local bodies.

This is not civil prosecution we are talking about. That may or may not come later.

Iam aware about ARAI and their authority on Indian Automobile industry. I concur with you that what ARAI says is final straw and Triumph should have incorporated those figures in their literature before they started lauching their showrooms in Jan 2014 (ARAI approvals date back to June 2013) but, either Triumph deliberately stuck to UK figures or it was an oversight (unlikely) is to be proved or accepted. I was speaking below from a customers perspective. I wouldnt have bought the bike in hindsight if i had known of this fiasco in advance.

Anyways, I had a fantastic short stint with my Triumph Bonneville. Sadly, it goes on the block very soon

I personally would be very disappointed if you did that.

From all the Triumph guys here (Indian Triumphs) I can think of no one better to champion the cause of the fight that's coming.

Avinash, are you selling it off because of this detuning controversy?

Excellent idea. Though the party host (Avi) would have to ride pretty much longer than the rest of the 3 cities boys.

Hyderabad Goa 660 kms

Mumbai Goa 600 kms

Bangalore Goa 560 kms

Pune Goa 460 kms

I fully second this, though I may have to make 3,000 KM trip. Hope the convenient date would be in Jan 2015 (fresly out of holidays for 2014 :( and hence, this thought)

But will try my best

Best Regards & Ride Safe

Ram

Thanks guys for your curiosity. My decision to sell the Bonnie has absolutely nothing to do with detune issue.

Actually, Iam relocating out of the country shortly and hence, all my beloved vehicles are going on the block

This is unfair. I will miss the mother of all bike meets if this really happens

Btw, I have single handedly organized the largest multi-state Team-BHP meet way back in 2009 in Goa and BHPians from AP, KA, KL, TN and MH were present including GTO. You can search in meet threads for details and lots of pics

I think it's time for another biggie before you leave. I suggest a multi-state BHP meet. What do you say Avi? I doubt if you have time for this.

I guessed as much from the news trickle, but did not want to voice it until we heard from you. Let me be the first to officially wish you the best in your new adventure. I'm sure there are many interesting rides ahead.

If I were in Hyderabad, I'd put my dibs in for BB. I'm sure there is a long line of willing suitors who will cherish the ride as much as you did.

Good luck!
