re: Ducati to re-enter India in 2015. EDIT: Bikes priced from Rs. 7.08 lakhs (page 6)

Any news on progress of the Bangalore Ducati outlet?

Slightly OT but,

Also, been hearing about speculated Versys 650 launch in 2015. Anyone with some reliable info on that?

I am sort of torn between scrambler and versys 650 as both the bikes appeal in their own way. Given their availability and if priced similarly, i would go with Versys for its versatility. I would be tempted to go with scrambler if there is no sign of versys. I hope there is a scope for after market windshield and and aux lights on scrambler. Also Hard luggage box with frame would be critical, as going by pics, it looks difficult even to throw a soft saddle bag and secure it.

Autocar India reports that a Versys 650 has been imported by Kawasaki for homologation purposes. So there is a definite sign that the Versys 650 is coming to our shores soon !!

Haven't checked all sources yet, but what's the news on other Scrambler models being available in India besides the Icon? Thank you!

Believe the bookings are open for the scrambler in their Delhi & Mumbai showrooms. They are due to be released by this month end as per the update I got on this forum

All the 4 versions of the scrambler will be launched.

Booked mine earlier this week. As per the Mumbai showroom, only the Icon has been launched. No specific plans for the other three models yet.

How is this possible ?
EDIT: brief NSFW still image embedded in video.

Making a V-twin engine sound like an inline 3/4. It could be that the video is scripted, the actual sound is from another bike, and then edited into the video - it also has the characteristic high pitched chain whine which a Ducati does not ; but do notice the rear footpegs vibrate when the engine revs, so it looks genuine.

Got my Scrambler last Thursday and have ridden about 200kms since! I wont go into details that have already been discussed on the forum except to say that the bike is great fun to ride except for the ridiculously hard rear suspension. Yesterday, I adjusted the preload down to the minimum and what a difference that has made. The bike is infinitely more rideable and enjoyable now on our shabby roads. Am still in running-in mode so am trying not to exceed 4K RPMs which is adequate for most situations, but cant wait to be able to whack it open when required. I am completely convinced now that a handlebar and lever change are a must (the current levers are designed for BIG hands are are quite far away from the handlebars). More after I have covered some more miles.

Congratulations Mate, wish you miles of happiness and joy while riding the hoot. Would encourage you to put up an ownership review on the bike.
Do put up some photos of your new machine.

Regarding the handle bars, suggest you to look at the Full throttle for the handle bar else you have lots of Renthal handle bars which will fit the scrambler but the only problem might be the cables.

Ducati Scrambler

It started with the first look - the bike seemed to long to step out of the glass cage..

So first we tried cheering it up by going in.. but it still seemed to want to go out..

And out it came! Doesnt it look happier outside?

Any idea when the M821 would be launched in India?
Any guesses on the pricing of M821 considering that the M795 is priced at 6.45 lakhs Ex-Showroom Mumbai (price mentioned in Ducati India Website)?

Had gone to the Ducati Mumbai showroom yesterday to test ride the Scrambler and the Monster 795. They already had one 821 for delivery and the sales guy metioned it comes to around INR 11.5 lacs on road Mumbai.

On the test rides:
Scrambler
-Has a fresh appeal especially that single pod instrument console
-Very torquey motor which is a hoot to ride in Mumbai traffic. Pulls really well through the gears
-Can amble around in the city at low speeds in higher gears. Experienced a little bit of lugging in 2nd gear but pulls cleanly afterwards when taking off from speed breakers
-Does get hot especially near the right ankle which rests beside the exhaust
-Nice ride quality. Much better than my Duke 390
-Really light and progressive clutch action again much better that my 390
-Decent brakes too with ABS
-Yellow icon readily available. Around INR 8 lacs on road Mumbai

Monster 795
-Has started showing its age and more so when you compare it to the fresh Scrambler
-Runs a more aggressive tune than the Scrambler and it needs to be revved more. Better outright performance than the Scrambler though
-ABS is sorely missed on this motorcycle. Locked up the rear wheel during the test ride but braking performance and feel is good
-Slightly stiffer set up than the Scrambler so ride quality is a bit stiffer but again better than the 390
-Awesome exhaust note from those stock high set exhausts
-Did not feel the heat as much as the Scrambler
-Readily available. On road pricing same as the Scrambler
-Both motorcycles run smoothly and did not feel any unwarranted vibrations
