Hai HVK and othere,

Today @ around 230 PM, me and Shridhar- SRIDHGA (was great company and did the log keeping) did the tracking for hotels for the GQ run. I picked him and we did about 150 KMs round trip. The logs are on the attached excel sheet.

As you come from the expressway to Ahmedabad, you'd find an exit (will tell you exact distance of this exit from entry @ Baroda expressway later) to Sarkhej and then an over bridge (this is the SPRing road which you will have to take) and immediately an exit to the left board to Himmatnagar, take this, it will turn around, come and join the S.P. Ring Road. In 500 mtrs, you'd hit the Ramil Toll gate, preserve the token, good for 24 hours for the next 2 gates. This we have tracked as '0' point.

Let me know what's the plan, we can do accordingly. These are the options on either side of the NH8 / Ring Road, the ones inside would zap your time. Nearing the date of the run, we can track it again and fix the rates and take a call.

ok brilliant, how do we take it from here? I can look for a hotel on the Madras road, I guess there will be some there, should I? Since I`m not too good with cal roads, I`ll probably ask some bhpians from here to help me out considering the entrance from delhi and exit to madras.

Since the Durgapur Expressway (north from Delhi side, NH2) blends into the Kon Expressway (NH6, Bombay/Madras road), there is no necessity to go into the Kolkata city itself. So the ideal overnighter would be somewhere in the highway itself or on the way to the Iswar Setu (to go towards Alipur side).

Ok, there is a hotel on Kona expressway itself, but its a slightly fancy 4 starish hotel...but I can check with them since business must be terrible in that location. How many rooms are we looking for approximately?

There are a couple of A1 - Reliance hotels on the highway, don't know whether they are still alive?

Some A1 s are still running, but most are closed. But expect a revival if Reliance reopens its pumps now that crude prices have fallen.

exactly, A1`s are brilliant. But do they have rooms also? The ones I saw had a cafe and a dorm for truckers kinda thing.

Most of the reliance pumps are reopening from 1st of Jan. Hopefully A1's open up too.

Ok... I will join at Vijaywada on the 13th and will be with the drive till the end in BLR. will try to rustle up some of the active Hyd members. am sure we will be able to have at least 8-10 confirmations from hyd.

Hi! Himanshu,we could plan this as our Drive Meet for Jan'09 i.e incase we have a majority on this.
