Gramphoo-Losar is bad but usually 'open'. The single biggest question mark for doing the Spiti loop is the Malling Nallah! You might well find yourself backtracking to Kunzum, Gramphoo and Rohtang!

There is a direct route to Udhampur from Pathankot by which you skip Jammu since it is out of the way. You take a right after Samba near the industrial establishment. You skip Jammu and reach Udhampur directly saving around 70 kms

Indeed, that is the better route; through Kathua!
Jammu is highly avoidable!

Thanks ramkya! Your pdf will definitely help in updating the distances in track log!
I plan to log the entire trip on GPS, will give you the logs.
At the end of the trip I plan to map the entire area on openstreetmap

Tanveer, also can you capture all the important Waypoints/POI etc during your complete trip, like Waypoints for Dhaba/Hotels/POI/Main Turns/anything important. So that one can simply import them on GPS App and use on next trip.

There is already stuff posted on BCMT by motographer (kartz aka karthik): His friend ananthakrishna has hosted them publicly - and they covered most places except zanskar - if I recall right.

Does the team advise against doing a Leh trip in an Alto? The thought of the trip just crossed my mind but nothiing planned or decided yet.

Travelwriter, an Alto is eminently capable of doing the Ladakh trip! Many do it each year!

Akas, why so much time for the Leh to Delhi sector?
Leh-Sarchu, Sarchu-Manali and Manali-Delhi is what most bikers do!

Hi,

I am certainly intersted, would certainly want to be a part of group. We are 4 person & plan to take 2-3 bikes on rent. However we need some group where the luggages can be carried in a truck & may be we can all get some combined help (like mechanics etc in case of failures).

Suggest How do we do it. PM me. FYI I am based in Delhi.

SamtheLeo, you are over estimating this trip. There is no need for backup trucks and the like. The only problem area is to get hold of reliable bikes! That rules out the ones that seem to rule the rental roost - Enfields!
Unicorns, Karizmas and Pulsars (150, 200, whatever) do this route many times over without support vehicles!
