Can be replaced in FNGs for around Rs1000 to Rs2000. Its a common issue nowadays, any reliable FNG can replace it.

I am one of the unlucky guys I guess. When this happened the second time I was very frustrated and I met another guy at the showroom and his was the 5th time. That was a Vento almost 4 yrs at that time. Also, there is also an Ameo in my family just two years old and encontered the ABS issue. So this is a very frequent issue nowadays even the showroom technicians admitted that they receive a lot of cases. So I guess something should be done.

I was particular shocked when I saw it! Our cars have far more expensive parts, of course, but I do agree that this is not a bill I'd like to be getting regularly.

Yesterday I tried to replace a headlight bulb. Right side, 2014 GT TDI.

The manual makes it look easy. First, I expected the lamp unit to fall out after removing screws: it doesn't. Internet told me I have to push and pull hard to free it from clip.

All connections have to be removed. Could remove cables from indicator and side light, even headlight itself... But there is one more, right in the corner which I could not manage.

You can see the absence of working space...


Not sure, I think the main thing in the way is the fuel pump? Petrol engines may give more space.

Anyway, it is humiliating to fail at such a simple job, but hey, that's life. Now I will have to get it done.

I wonder if there is any VW Polo car more than 5 years old on which ABS sensor failure has not happened so far. I have been lucky to have it once in 10 years of ownership. That too in the 9th year. Better to get it replaced from the dealership since you don't want any malfunction of ABS when it is matter of life and death.

Replaced the bulb from a FNG. They did not remove the unit. Just pulled out the old bulb and inserted the new one. Mine is a petrol, but don't think this is any different in Diesel.

My car will complete 7 years of ownership this October and I've not had an ABS sensor failure so far. No proactive maintenance work was done for the sensors either; had it cleaned when the brake pads were replaced. That's about it.

I'm sure there are other owners too.

That's the fuel filter Nick. I agree, changing the headlight bulbs are a pain due to the lack of space.

Poloman, I guess you would have the battery in the way on the left, but no huge fuel filter on the right. Haha, being used to this big TDI engine, I bet the new 1.0 petrol engines would seem tiny!

The headlamps were upgraded by the original owner when the car was new. That makes them six years old. Do halogen lamps loose brightness with age? Should I replace them both? I did buy two.

I replaced my stock bulbs in the 8 th year with OSRAM night breakers. Then also they were functioning as poor as they were on day 1. If you want to notice reduction in brightness, they should be brighter at some point right .

OSRAM night breakers have given 25% improvement, that is all..nothing great

Tried my hand at minor part replacements myself and must say it was satisfying. Got the AC air fileter and the engine air filter from boodmo and managed to replace them myself after watching a couple of videos on the tube. Managed a pressure wash myself as well. Was a pretty satisfying feeling all in all even though I knew these were baby steps, I wonder what I can do myself next.

Can anyone suggest a reliable source for tyres as all 4 on mine are up for replacement soon?

Can anyone suggest a center in mumbai where the ABS sensors can be changed. Got two of them changed last year for almost 9 k and if I can, I'd like to get it done at a better price because I felt it was too inflated as well!

One of the ABS sensors have failed on my 2016 Vento TSi. Posting here because I saw some posts about the same part failure on the Polo and various VW models.

They asked for 4.5k for the part plus labour. What's scary is not the failure itself(as I almost never drive more than 5-10kms at speeds <50km/hr), but the fact that it threatens to completely cripple the car.

The speedometer starts acting up, causing the gearbox to get confused and shift up/down and release the clutch in an erratic manner, and it can't be driven further without pulling over, restarting the car, and hoping for the best. A pretty high price to pay for such a small part failure, and I hope the touchy gearbox hasn't been affected by it. :/

Had a slight prang yesterday. Thought a 2-wheeler had just touched, maybe added one to my dents to be repaired inventory. He stopped, apologetic, but I told him never mind, go. Found that the front bumper was hanging off!

It looks like it is two screw holes torn out: one in the bumper, one in the wheel arch cover. Not wanting to hear from the dealer that I have to replace both those parts, I have taken the car to Chennai's independent Ignite Garage, which is not far from me.

Have left the car there for that to be checked out, quote for an awaiting-repair dent, and for annual service.

All that should be fine. But here's where the problem starts. The car is showing a warning light, and it indicates an injector problem. Six years old and out of warranty: I gather from a Skoda thread that this this is likely to be expensive

All to be properly checked tomorrow morning: wish me luck!

The design is flawed and failure is so common that this issue is inevitable in polo , vento, rapid and fabia. People who are driving this car are just lucky till the day it gets them

Part of the compromise manufacturers tend to do these days while juggling multiple hats - performance, lower cost and reliability

He is exploring options.

My bumper won't cost much... They can fix it in place.

Some other accident damage I was saving up, awaiting quote.

Tyre shop told me nearly 30k for 4 Michelin pst4. 6 years old and cracking up. Known for some time this must be done.
