Thank you, brother. I did not know that it was this easy. Still, my complaint about them being unprofessional all the while still holds true.

ABS light switched on, at 3 years/17500km. Got the sensors and connectors cleaned but didn't have any effect. Got a vehicle scan done and the left rear ABS sensor needed to be replaced. Light went out once the car moved a few feet. Total cost: Rs 2300.

Hooray for local mechanics who know their stuff.

Re: VW Polo - Maintenance and Service cost and dos/don'ts

My Polo has been giving a faint rattling sound in the front when going over potholes. It was like a "clunk" sound like something loose. Suspected the suspension and went to the service guys. Did a test drive with them and they got back to me later in the evening saying that the right shock was weak and the mounting bushes needed to be replaced. Also mentioned that the steering rack column was a bit loose.

I have them the go ahead to fix the issues. The total damage was around 12K, 3K in labor charges and 9k in parts.

The parts changed were the RH shock (6rf413031g), both boot (357413175a), both the mountings (1j0412331c). Surprised to see the boot were priced at about 1500/- each, while the shock was 1700/-. The mountings were 1800/- apiece. The rest of the parts were nuts, bolts etc.

They also tightened the steering column, so lost the easy feel on them. Its more rigid now to my dislike.

So far no more extra rattles. I had asked the SA if I needed to do an alignment check, but he said there was no need for that. After a couple of km of drive I sensed something amiss and went to do a re-alignment. Of course they were way off the mark !

Polo petrol add-on warranty cost for third year: Rs 13800, in Mumbai. This is if you haven't purchased extended warranty at the time of purchase, so it is for the third year of ownership when the car has just turned two years old.

Purchased the 5th and 6th year warranty for Polo GT TSI. Got it for 16k and my car is covered for 1.5 lakh kilometers now. A sigh of relief as the DSG200 is quite notorious gearbox.

Re: VW Polo - Maintenance and Service cost and dos/don'ts

There is a problem with the red light on the door of my Polo-1,2 TDI 2013 make. The light does not blink now a days for the past few months , but the locking function is normal. Is it just a bulb outage or do I need to worry about anything else. I have hard-wired two devices, a GPS and a dash-cam. Could them be the issue?

What was the original warranty you had. Did you have 2 years factory warranty plus 2 yrs extended. Total 4 years. Then you bought the 5th and 6th year?

I have purchased 2 yrs extended warranty have total 4 years. When I asked the dealer he says I can't buy 5th and 6th year until I run out of the 4yrs warranty first.

Please clarify.

Original Warranty - 4 years
Extended Warranty - 4 + 2 = 6 years

Not sure if this scheme is available for only new cars, MY19.

Thanks, I guess this is available only on MY19 cars. Mine is 2017 and I only have the option of going in for 5th year warranty after expiry of the first 4 years.

Experts can comment please.

Mine is a 2016 one. I have taken the warranty cover for the 5th year in February 2019. I was told that I could take the cover for the 6th and 7th years during the 5th and 6th years, respectively. I am unable to understand why they can't cover extended warranty in one go.

They'll provide it at their discretion. Cars in India are usually slotted into the high use/abuse categories, so you never know how many miles it will have covered and what condition it will be in, in five years' time.

For example: the Royal Enfield twin cylinder products are provided with an unlimited mileage warranty in the US market, which is an industry standard. They wouldn't dare offer that in the Indian market!

Yes, I own a 2017 Polo TDI Highline plus. Got the 2 years extended warranty during the time of purchase. Went to the sales person as soon as I Came to know about new extended warranty period, only to be informed that it can be availed at the end of fourth year for some rough cost of around 14k.

Re: VW Polo - Maintenance and Service cost and dos/don'ts

My Polo 1.2 has clocked 85,000 kms running on original clutch. Off late, i have observed a hard clutch. The pedal effort has increased leading to fatigue. However, the clutch bite and performance is not affected.
Pl. advice if anyone has faced similar issue and what was done to resolve?
